I spent a few nights here travelling alone. I had a small but very pretty single room with a very small attached shower room. The bedroom was clean and the location is fantastic - it's just a ten minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is down a quiet street, in an area filled with large Florentine houses and... More

Our travel agency booked here for us. It is centrally located (15 minutes walk to Ponte Vecchio). It is an old Florence House. So it was very nice staying here. Staff was helpful, Rooms were clean. If I come again to Florense I definitely stay here again. And there was free good quality wifi.

It is centrally located ( 10 m walking distance from city center ), hotel is fairly clean, free wifi and staff are very helpful. At reception, a very nice lady called " Jada" was helpful enough to arrange all our tours during our short visit to Florence. Thanks jada

We stayed here for two nights, and paid to park with the hotel. However the hotel apparently failed to notify the local police/government that we were parking with them, and so we got charged a large fine by the city of Florence for entering the zone the hotel was in. We then contacted the hotel and city of florence to... More

I was a little worried at first as it wasn't a brand name chain but it turned out just fine. The shower had no place other than the floor for holding soap etc.. so that was funky. But all round a cute little place. Giada, one of the desk clerks was very pleasant and friendly! She helped get us in... More

Good location, large room, but very cramped shower stall with no light. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing special. Staff could've been a bit more attentive, as it is I think the most attention I got from a staff member was when I forgot to turn in my room key before going out to dinner and practically got yelled at as... We had a very nice stay at this hotel. The staff was all very friendly and helpful, the room clean and the breakfast basic but nice. That said, the room was a bit stuffy as was the rest of the hotel. Something in the air was a bit off, and we left not feeling so great. The hotel is a... More

My husband and I just spent Valentine's Day weekend in Florence, which is quite a beautiful city! The De Rose Hotel is located on a quiet street, it's about a 10-15 minute walk away from the city center, Ponte Vecchio and the train station. The hotel itself is older, but our room was warmly decorated and spacious for my husband... More

The location is ok, but staff is not polite; also, breakfast is very poor. There is not fruit, just a croissant; and also cappuccino or coffee is not good at all. And rooms are old, they should renew the premises and rooms;I would not go back again.

We stayed in the De Rose Palace for 3 nights. This can't be a four star hotel. Its is old and dirty. Black mould in the bathroom is not very helpfull if you want to advertise your place as a FOUR star hotel. The room and especially the bathroom is very very smal. The AC did not work, the advertised... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
