I have been at the NH anglo for about a week now and I have had a great time. People need to realize that when you stay at a place that is this old, some of those modern amenities will not be available. the rooms are a little outdated but the service during our trip has been very good. They... More

The NH hotel Anglo American is a gorgeous property close to the river. It is a 15-20 walk to downtown Florence, but the walk is worth it for such a nice property! And friendly staff. Totally recommend!

Upon checking in, Nico greeted me warmly and promptly organized my room. Very helpful in advising the places of interests and day tours outside Florence. Special thanks to Francesco for helping me on my forward hotel booking to Venice after staying for 5 days in Florence. My room is very spacious, comes with separate closet room. The hotel is located in a quite but very good area of Florence. Close to the center and railway station. The staff is very nice and professional. The rooms are good and comfortable. I can absolutely reccommend this hotel in Florence.

I have booked my stay in Florence in one of NH hotels, NH Anglo American. It is a 4 star hotel considered centrally located. Well to tell you the truth, Florence is a walking city so almost all hotels are well located as long as they are through the edges between Leopolda station from the west and Basilica Santa Croce... About 10 to 15 mn walk from the Duomo, just behind the American consulate, in a peaceful street, this hotel has obviously known better times as far as decoration and grandeur are concerned. Our room was spacious, the bathroom slightly dated and run down. In room 323, you could only get the internet if you sat behind the door !... More

Florence was our 4th stop in our five cities European vacation. After a very disappointing visit to Rome, this was an absolute jewel to find. The place is quaint and has lots of charm. Our room was on the 3rd floor, street side, and we were able to open the window and enjoy some of the evening breeze. The room... More

This hotel has so much potential! If it wasn't for the breakfast buffet I would have given 1 star. Too bad the people working at the bar in the hotel and behind the front are not friendly, helpful or even care about customer service. Will never go back.

The Anglo American is a nicely located hotel in a quiet spot with nice comfortable rooms with pleasant staff and good breakfast selection. Would use again if in Florence. Excellent wifi throughout the hotel.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
