I stayed here while on a recent business trip, hotel is lovely and the staff are all very nice. The hotel is an easy 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of town and close to the train and tram lines. Breakfast was chaos most mornings due to group tours all breakfasting together, so I collected my old and headed back... More

The lobby and restaurant of the hotel is very well maintained and looked very nice, the breakfast was very well done with a wide variety of fruits and croissants. The croissants are excellent! However, the rooms are quite old and poorly maintained not to mention dusty. The air con was not functioning in our room and the sheets are quite... More

One would assume that making sure that the bed sheets are clean is a minimum, also when called upon that the person who remakes the bed, knows how to do so.... The shower drain had not been cleaned for some time, causing flooding out on the floor. Time to revise the checklist I assume?

Very welcoming staff, made to feel comfortable, high quality standard without unnecessary formalities. Our visit was during a heat wave so cool and comfortable room was important. Lovely food in the hotel

Very small outdated rooms, uncaring staff and an old hotel facilities. It is a tour bus stop every day , so they don't care as they get enough business from tours. Will not return unless they update the facility and get better service reviews.

A great hotel for a stay in Florence. The original building is quite old, but the hotel has a modern feel to it. It is situated away from the busy touristy part of Florence yet just a ten minute walk along the Arno to the Ponte Veccio. Generous public spaces to sit with high ceilings and a self-contained internal courtyard,... More

The rooms were spacious and felt even more so with the high ceiling. We had a large window to the street which we kept open when we were in the room. The breakfast was wonderful with fresh fruit, croissants, rolls, eggs, meats and cheeses, juices and a variety of coffees. The hotel was about a mile from the center of... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
