bY ALL MEANS do not stay at this hotel unless you expect rude staff, no AC in any of the rooms and dark hallways risking injuries and falls down the stairs. Not family friendly. Hard pastries and warm milk and juices. No working refrigerators or Air conditioning units. It was awful.

We only paid £25 pp per night for this hotel and we found it was great value for money. The hotel itself, is 10 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio and also the town centre (Duomo and other attractions) depending on which way you go. The room was basic, but was a good base; it has a wardrobe, a fridge, air-con,... More

Our family of 5 stayed in Florence 1 night. Florence was incredible, though this hotel is anything but that. Though the room was cleaned, it was small, old, and our air conditioning didn't work. The staff tried to help by giving us a choice of an old, old room to switch to (we paid for the Deluxe and this alternative... More

The building itself is very old and is an overall comfortable stay. I was traveling with a group, some of our rooms (about two) did not have working AC units. However, other than that the stay was very enjoyable. The beds were not that comfortable, but it worked for only one night. It is located very close to the city... More

So it was 85 degrees Fahrenheit in Florence. I got into the hotel and went through three different rooms with no ac. Hotel website says AC is in the rooms...It is I guess, just after may 20th. I then refused to stay in the hotel and would have to speak the MOD the next day about a refund. He was... More

Was forced to stay there one night as my booked Hotel had problems (that is another story). The room was as large as a shoe box with two singles beds rather a double bed. the toilet and shower recess was behind a cupboard door with the shower and toilet together. When you had a shower the toilet would get wet.... More

I stayed here three nights. it's a nice, quiet, clean, safe hotel within walking distance of all the museums, Arno river, Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, Giotto's belltower, restaurants and shopping. I had no problems whatsoever staying here, except WiFi only seems to work in lobby. Showers are a bit small, but I guess this is common for Italy. There is a... More

We were lucky to find this place at a reasonable price after our accommodation fell through when we arrived in Florence! Friendly, helpful staff however we put in a room with no windows and very uncomfortable pillows! They were quick to help us with a power adaptor however were unable to provide us with more pillows or blankets and the... More

We stayed at Hotel Argentina with a high school class from Denmark during our visit in Florence. Suppenly one afternoon an iPad was missing in one of the students rooms, and since the room had been closed and wasn't broken up, only the staff had had access to the room. The worried girl, who had lost the iPad (she had... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
