Stayed in July 2015, Absolutely awful, No working AC. Front desk staff pretend they don't know and promise you an AC tech will look at it. Then while we were out someone from staff flipped the signage on the doorknob from "clean my room" to " do not disturb" and then they claim they could not let the tech in.... More

Hotel staff was very friendly, helped us book a day tour. Room was small and tight-spaced but very neat and clean. Airconditioning and bed were good and bathroom was very decent. Historic city centre is literally five minutes walking away, as is the city's biggest train station. Breakfast not to write home about, but all in all very good value... More

Rude staff, credit card machine is not working so they required us to pay in cash... Price constantly changes, after we already pre-paid hotel we had to pay more. AC is not working, it's been stuck on 25C ever since we checked in, however, we set it to 16C hours ago. We were unwillingly "upgraded" to a premium room where... More

Very, very cheap deal. The room was spacious, huge bathroom with a balcony. Great location for visiting the main sites. We struggled to find it, but it is very close to the train station. Staff were friendly, polite and very pleasant. Room cleaned and new towels daily.

With my frequent stays at hotels, this is the worst one I have ever been to. The room has not seen paint since WWII, out of order fridge, no TV, leaking pipes in the bathroom, verrry poor breakfast. What an expensive shambles!

bY ALL MEANS do not stay at this hotel unless you expect rude staff, no AC in any of the rooms and dark hallways risking injuries and falls down the stairs. Not family friendly. Hard pastries and warm milk and juices. No working refrigerators or Air conditioning units. It was awful.

We only paid £25 pp per night for this hotel and we found it was great value for money. The hotel itself, is 10 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio and also the town centre (Duomo and other attractions) depending on which way you go. The room was basic, but was a good base; it has a wardrobe, a fridge, air-con,... More

Our family of 5 stayed in Florence 1 night. Florence was incredible, though this hotel is anything but that. Though the room was cleaned, it was small, old, and our air conditioning didn't work. The staff tried to help by giving us a choice of an old, old room to switch to (we paid for the Deluxe and this alternative... More

The building itself is very old and is an overall comfortable stay. I was traveling with a group, some of our rooms (about two) did not have working AC units. However, other than that the stay was very enjoyable. The beds were not that comfortable, but it worked for only one night. It is located very close to the city... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
