Lovely, unique hotel--steps from historic venues. High ceilings, large rooms, sumptuous bath, wonderful antiques & eclectic art collection throughout. The staff was so friendly and helpful--especially Julia!

What a beautiful property! Large rooms, carved ceilings, great WiFi and fabulous staff! Stayed for 3 nights with 2 adults and one teen and had plenty of room. The hotel is quiet and had no issues with sleep being disturbed (and we are light sleepers). Large bathroom with pretty tiles

With the big hotel chains you know what to expect - comfortable but bland, with staff who go through the motions reasonably efficiently. An independent hotel is more of a risk, but the best of them are simply the best. Il Guelfo Bianco is that kind. First impression is the front of the hotel, which is rather small and unimpressive.... Il Guelfo Bianco is in a perfect location to see the sites of Firenze. The hotel set up reservations for us at the Accademia and Uffizi, and gave great directions on retrieving our tickets. The room is a good size and the bathroom is huge (esp. by European standards). Air conditioning worked well, although we could not set it lower... More

This was my family's first visit to Florence and the Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco was ideally located within walking distance to all the great sites, including the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Accademia, Santa Trinita. The staff were really helpful providing the guidance and making all our arrangements to make reservations and book tours. The Hotel was extremely comfortable, and we would... More

This is so convenient for the Duomo, Mercato Centrale, and Uffizi -- 5-minute walk to the first two and a 10-minute walk to the last. About 15-20 minutes from the train station. The rooms are really cool and original, giving a sense of the history of the building, combined with tasteful modern art (we were in room 116, which only... More

This was my 4th time staying at Il Guelfo Bianco and every time is as wonderful as the last. My family found Il Guelfo Bianco about 15 years ago while traveling. We had stayed in another hotel down the street and had a horrible experience the first night. Walking into Il Guelfo that next day was like walking into heaven.... More

Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco is a charming hotel two blocks from the Duomo. Our room was spacious and provided a separate sleeping alcove for our young adult son traveling with us. The bathroom was more than adequate. While the hotel room has an older dated feel, we loved the charm of the decor and the antique furniture. The staff, especially... More

This hotel really knows what travellers are looking for: The booking process was easy and the staff recommended and also helped us pre-book museum tickets. The parking arrangement for the car is is very convenient and reliable. The rooms are tidy and comfortable. The breakfast has everything you need with fresh and home made products. The best of all: the... More

My wife and i just loved this place and our only regret was not staying longer! What We Liked: The rooms were very generous and well equipped. I believe we had a mini-suite, it had a small living space with a couch and desk with a large flat screen TV. In a separate space was our queen size bed. It... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
