Pros: Great location, affordable, and EXCELLENT breakfast service. (Ask for a cappuccino!) Some rooms have good upgrades (but it's the luck of the draw.) Cons: Otherwise it's an outdated old place with rude reception desk staff, thin walls, and tacky decor. Would pay more for better.

We had our suitcases gone through and money stolen out of a sealed backpack. The staff at the hotel was very unhelpful with the situation. The friends that we were traveling with had their luggage gone through as well. Very disappointing from a three star hotel! Andy at the front desk is very rude and not helpful with directions and... This lovely hotel is ideally situated, five minutes from the station and right on the corner of San Lorenzo market. I've stayed in lots of hotels nearby but this was the best. Decorated in the traditional Florentine style, the hotel is really well kept, a lovely foyer and bar. Our room had everything we needed and seemed to have a... More

This hotel is ideally located within easy walking distance of many of Florence's top attractions and surrounded by restaurants catering for all tastes and pockets. The breakfast choice is what you would expect from a good hotel and the staff are very helpful. The downside is that some rooms look onto a street market which can be very disturbing if... More

We stayed here for 4 nights and we were pleasantly surprised at the close proximity to the train station. local buses, good restaurants within walking distance and the main sights. The reception staff always greeted us and helped with our questions, They were very good when we asked if they could book tickets for David, saying they would be happy... More

This hotel is just 5 minutes walk from the railway station in Florence. Our room was very quiet and clean with the linen & towels changed every day. The room (126) is on the inside of the building so doesn't benefit from a particularly well lit window or view, but is perfectly presented for a short stay. However, the bathroom... More

Ideally located for all this beautiful city has to offer. Leave railway station by front exit and turn right, hotel 200m on right. Florence is a very walkable city and all major sites are within easy distances, e.g. Duomo 4 minutes, Ponte Vecchio 10 - 15 minutes. Excellent Ristorante in close proximity. Hotel is spotlessly clean. The shower/toilet is a... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
