Now don't get me wrong we stayed in a €500 a night room but wow it was the best suite we have ever had 2 bathrooms 2 50" TVs 3 seat sofa, hallway 4 post bed and just stunning views they were incredible, I'm not gunna lie the price is off putting but it's something I'll look back on and... More

Great location - very short walk to train station. Very modern room - great a/c for a hot Italian summer, Internet TV, wifi Pool on top floor provides incredible view of Florence. Breakfast was great. Very close to all sights in Florence - Domo, Ufizzi, Ponte Veccio, etc.

I loved staying at this hotel! The staff were very friendly, the rooms were scrupulously clean and the breakfast was ideal. The hotel is situated in a beautiful piazza where there is nightly entertainment giving it a buzz but not too much. A free glass of Prosecco between 6:30 and 7:30 is a nice touch, but the icing on the... More

We booked the large suite for our family and the size of room was much larger than expected. Usually the rooms are small but this was almost the size of an apartment, split level. There were 2 bathrooms and even a small living/tv room with a fold out couch. The hotel was very well kept, quiet, clean and friendly staff... More

This was a great hotel for our family (which included a 4 year old). The rooftop pool and air conditioning were a godsend in the heat. The rooftop bar/restaurant has the best view in town (short of the Duomo), and the staff is incredibly friendly. The include breakfast was also fantastic, and a good way to start the day before... I love the Grand Hotel Minerva. The staff was outstanding- hard working, helpful and friendly. The piazza was fun because there was entertainment in the evenings. We had a glass of wine on the terrace at sunset- overlooking the square, hearing the music, seeing all the sights of the city- amazing. We traveled with older kids and they really enjoyed... More

Great hotel, short walk from station and to all the standard tourist destinations. As a family of five we had a junior suite and a double room on the fifth floor - one facing the square and the other facing general Florence. Rooms very large with big windows that opened out, that said we had no issues with noise from... More

We had a 2 story duplex that fit our family of 5 perfectly. If you book online you get free minibar. Great location, near train station & walking distance to all the sights. Good breakfast & beautiful rooftop pool with amazing views. We enjoyed the entertainment in the Piazza in the evenings. Great restaurants nearby.

Great hotel, few minutes walk from station, and ~10 minutes walk to the cathedral and duomo. Amazing rooftop pool and bar with fantastic views across Florence. our room was spotlessly clean and recently refurbished. Staff were friendly and helpful and efficient and to top it off, they have free prosecco at 630pm! Would highly recommend and definitely return!

This was our favorite hotel during our trip to Italy. We rented a car and the hotel took care of the parking (for a fee). The hotel is now non smoking, however one of the rooms we got was smoky so we had to change. The manager of the hotel personally took us around to different rooms to choose from!... More

Dear Lorin S, we are really glad that you enjoyed your stay in Florence and that we contributed a little bit to it. Just a small word of clarification regarding food on our rooftop. What you find there is more of a bar than a restaurant, where snacks like sandwiches, salads and other simple platters are served. The hotel also... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
