stay 4 nights in this hotel during winter... located at the park of Piazza di Santa Novella and just walking distance from florence rail station. Staffs are friendly and quite effective, room is small but oke, breakfast is standard but not to worry because plenty of restaurants spread out around the hotel, including McD near station

I've stayed here for the last three nights and I'm very sad that my stay is coming to an end. The room I have is absolutely magnificent and I couldn't fault it at all. I have a lovely view of the city which is absolutely breathtaking. The staff here are absolutely wonderful. They are extremely accommodating and were always available... More

This hotel is fabulously located and within walking distance of the station and lots and lots of shops, restaurants and places of interest. Every day we went for a walk, we discovered a street we hadn't seen before. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even called my previous hotel for me to enquire about the camera I had... The best point of that hotel is location. It is located in a central place. You can go many historical places in the city by walking from that location. The hotel was good, clean and staff is also very kind, friendly and helpful. Carpark service is also provided but need extre fee. No problem about internet connection in the rooms.... More

I traveled to Florence over the Christmas holiday with my parents and two sisters. We had stayed at Hotel Minerva before and loved it! The hotel is currently undergoing renovation, so they offer free WIFI, minibar, and afternoon tea or coffee. Upon arrival, my parents requested to be moved to a room with a sitting area so that we could... More

The hotel is engaged in a major renovation at present so they had great discounts if you booked through their website. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast was included and was also excellent. It is a short walk from the main train station and an easy walk to all... More

The hotel is located in a very good spot in the town making it available to walk around the main historical areas and a few minutes walking distance from the river. Always travelled to this town for business meetings and always stayed in this hotel. Friendly polite staff with good english skills. Rooms are fairly big with more than enough... More

As long as you are aware of this, you should be fine. The offer extra perks as a result, such as free mini bar, a 20% discount on laundry, etc. The Wi-Fi was free, and breakfast was good. The view wasn't breathtaking but also not bad. This is a fine place if you are planning to start your day early... More

This was my favorite hotel of the three hotels we stayed at during our travels around Italy. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we felt catered to thanks to the wonderful staff at the front desk. Unlike many hotels that have a counter for people to stand at, Grand Hotel Minerva has two desks for guests... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
