Modern, featureless hotel with too many rooms and too many coach parties so breakfast across the 3 restaurants was awful. Had to ask for a glass to drink my laboratory produced fruit drink as only white plastic cups available. On the second morning we were directed to a quieter dark restaurant downstairs so took my bowl upstairs in search of... More

The lobby and restaurant is impressive. Reception was friendly and accommodating. Once you get into your room you find that the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo has small rooms as most European hotels do. The bathroom size was adequate. Our luggage quickly was delivered to our room. The breakfast buffet and restaurant was quite nice. The breakfast buffet was large with a... More

Our bus tour stopped here for one night. I think the outside of the hotel is the best part of this place. Our room looked NOTHING like what is shown on the professional photos. The room was hard to find the first time around. We were not sure which elevator took us to our room (I think we were in... More

Our tour group leader told us this hotels caters to bus tours. We had a nice, large room, + a nice sized bathroom as part of our tour group. The bed was not very comfortable, hard. We had little to do with the staff, so can't make any comments about their helpfulness. We were "on our own" for the evening... More

We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour and were treated like second class citizens. Staff were less than friendly, brushing us aside when we asked questions. The group were given a room upstairs for dinner and breakfast. It was incredibly noisy and the service was non existent. Food quality was poor and cold. The room we had... More

This hotel is right on the Arno, away from Giotto's Bell Tower. The service is HORRIBLE. The front desk staff have no interest in being pleasant, polite or helpful. The restaurant staff are rude and nasty. This is NOT an inexpensive hotel. Don't waste your money here.

We stayed at this hotel in Florence for three nights in March . It is a very big hotel with many guests (bus tours, and cruises) and thus tends to lack a little of the personal touch. That to one side the location is great ,the rooms were lovely and if you don't want to feel like cattle come evening meal time... We stayed here as a couple in a room that was adequate, rather than spacious. None the less, it was comfortable, and the sheets were changed after two nights. Air con worked well, and the curtains blacked out the light overnight. The breakfast was a little bit of a jumble, but the tea for an Englishman was a good quality... More

The word "grand" in the name of the hotel is not about its shower booth which is even smaller than a phone booth. I am very small (4"11 and 90 pounds). I still found it hard to manage my showering in such a small booth. In addition, it leaks. Whatever we tried, water would be all over the floor. The... More

Price is fair. Service was not great. Didn't even tell us how to get to our room. I'm not a fussy guest, but they weren't friendly at checkin, the rooms were nice but very small, and they are also not soundproof. I would not give this a 4 star rating. Wouldn't stay there again.
