The hotel is very nice and elegant. We only stayed for one night, but the hotel staff upgraded us to a nicer and bigger room. We decided to have our last dinner in Italy at the restaurant at the hotel. We were the only guests having dinner at the time. Service was excellent and it was convenient since we were... More

Wifi is a.w.f.u.l.l.y S.l.o.w. , and it's one of those that you have to login several times a day and only through one of your social networks or your Internet account. Really? I have been here three times and every time I swear I never be back. I am no sure I am coming back. Why do I have to... More

Beautiful hotel within 10-15 minute walking distance of both the train station and the main tourist attractions in heart of Florence. Get the bed and breakfast option, breakfast here was the best of any place we visited in Italy, fresh squeezed OJ and cappuccino were top notch. Room was enormous by European standards and staff were attentive. Highly recommend travelers... More

we booked this hotel through an Expedia deal and were a bit wary given past experiences but were more than pleasantly surprised. Our room may have been one of the Hotels most basic but it was still lovely. Clean, nicely appointed, bright, everything worked. The location is quiet and the sleep quality great. The hotel is about a 20min walk... More

Hotel is really good in terms of rooms size and service. Location is but walk away from all tourist places, but manageable. Desk staff are good but restaurant staff are rude with kids. Internet is poor but overall hotel is good to stay with family or friends. Ethinic euporean structure with touch of florence which i like a lot.

The photos and the grading did not tell the full story. Let's start with the positive: 1) nice decor 2) well maintained and clean hotel 3) twin room was big enough and had a huge shower. 4) service was average The negatives 1) breakfast was horrible 2) the classic double room was small with a tiny shower and shower head.... Dear Guest Thank you very much for staying with us and sharing your experience with other travellers. I regret to read we didn’t impress you that much despite toe positive aspects you found in a stylish décor, nice and clean rooms, etc. Unfortunately you didn’t enjoy the home-like-style of our property which is, according to many feedbacks, the strength of... Stayed two nights in July. Florence hot and crowded, but hotel away from center which was great. Air conditioning (it was very hot), comfortable beds, and lovely lobby and rooms. Quiet! Check in was professional, we got good recommendations for dinners with bookings, and there was a nice shopping area close by. Within walking distance (15-20 minutes) of all the... More

I stayed at several hotels in Italy so far and usually we get 2 complimentary bottled waters but this hotel had none in the rooms and when I asked for it charged me 2 euros for each bottled water. Nor did they help me with my huge 2 luggages after I checked out. Poor service. I stayed here 2 nights... More

Dear Taiwan C, Thank you for staying at Montebelo Splendid and sharing your experience despite I regret to read you are not satisfied with that. Unfortunately I don’t agree with you; the expectations to have two complimentary bottle of water is not a standard at all in the majority of European and North American hotels. Of course you can find... More

Never seen such a fitting name. I travel very frequently and I have visited over 45 countries in 4 continents, and innumerable cities, but rarely have I been so well impressed by a hotel. The city (Florence), the premises, the amenities, but above all the staff, from the reception desk to the bar and restaurant, all was there to make... More

I stayed at the Montebello Splendid for about a week. It is a charming and exquisite hotel close to all amenities. The walk to amenities is actually quite enjoyable and helps you to become familiar with the city. The staff are all very friendly and warm and helped to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. I also enjoyed the meals... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
