We stayed here for two nights, and were able to walk to everything we wanted to see. It has a nice lobby, and the rooms were comfortable though the only issue is that they were on the small side. Everyone at the hotel was friendly, and we were given good restaurant recommendations.

We got this hotel at a reasonable rate, and was suspicious of whether we were actually going to find a five star hotel. Well, we did! Great staff, excellent restaurant recommendations, and a fantastic property. The rooms are excellent, in line with the level you expect from a world-class five star hotel. The location is not the best, but you... More

Four drinks in lobby bar = €45.50, 1 Pino Grigo, 3 Aperole Spritz, no bill or receipt for cash payment. The service was nothing special I had to go and find the waiter to pay. He rolled his eyes when I didn't tip.

Dear Guest, thank you for visiting our garden bar few days ago even if not an hotel guest. I regret to read such a negative review regarding the bar charges. Our pricelist is available on all the tables and is perfectly in line with all the other prices of fine bars and hotel bars in town and worldwide. For sure... More

This hotel was very quiet and elegant. The staff was very helpful recommending great restaurants both nights. The rooms were large and the décor was more of an old world style with dark wood and tall ceilings, plenty of room for two. Although we never dined there, we did enjoy a drink outside in the courtyard which is lovely. Unfortunately,... More

We can over to Florence from Rome for a short two day one night visit, and we're very pleased. We enjoyed this city much more, but this hotel made our stay worth while. We were very happy to be out of our room in Rome and enjoy the luxury in this hotel. Staff was very accommodating, assisting us with our... More

Nothing special, nothing bad. Was a little further away then I had thought so caught taxis most days. Small hotel so very quiet, breakfast was basic and the gym wasn't too bad. Staff were older men who seemed a little over it all and who swore they didn't smoke although u could smell smoke in the lifts and rooms which... More

This hotel is great overall. It is converted from a 19th century villa so I loved the courtyard. I was a little annoyed when our room had stairs and a loft because that wasn't what I had in mind/they don't advertise those pictures. Everything in the city center is within walking distance which was great! The walk takes about 10-15... More

pretty, chic and makes you feel posh. lovely rooms and nice facilities. Excellent breakfast and quiet location, however, a tad too far from the sites, hence only the 4 stars....sorry but location is a strict criteria. Free (robust) Wifi - always a vote winner.

Our flight was very late arriving into florence, we called the hotel to see if bar would stay up late to feed some tired travelers. Donato stayed late made us a filling late dinner. The room was amazing, the location was quiet enough to leave the windows open all night. Breakfast was perfect, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed OJ, sweets. It... More

Very good location in Florence, about a 15 minute walk down the river to get to downtown. I am sure you could pay a lot more for a hotel closer, but this hotel is a good compromise. The bar area was very nice and all the staff was friendly. Didn't think the room quality was 5 stars, but it wasn't... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
