It's in the heart of the city and close to many attractions. As with Rome the streets are narrow and scooters and micro cars buzz all around so watch the traffic as you step out to explore this wondrous city. The staff were initially aloof but helpful when we asked. Be patient.. these people are inundated with tourists flooding their... More

I've stayed here for 7 nights in August 2015 and my experience was awesome. The rooms are clean and the service is excellent. Everyone on the staff was more than helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet is unbelievable, the food is great and you have plenty to chose from. The bar is also great and the guy working the bar... More

We stayed here for 3 nights B&B. Our room was small but had everything in it we needed - minibar, free wifi, TV and tea making facilities. It had a modern decor and was spotlessly clean as was the lovely shower room. The bed was a kingsize and really comfortable. The air con unit was efficient and up to the... More

We had a friend's wedding at the end of july and check in staff were very hostile especially GIANNI. I promised to write this so people are aware incase he serves you. He is curt and totally cold and at the end of the day we didn't come to make finds but demand polite and courteous staff for paid service.... More

The hotel is quite old but fairly maintained with clean rooms and balcony that overlooks the streets. The lifts will cause a bit of a wait everytime, esp when there are lots of check-ins/outs. Staffs were helpful and attentive. Good quality and variety of breakfast. The best thing about this hotel is the location - it's right across the 24/7... More

Fabulous Hotel. Great location 2 mins from the train station. 5 mins walk to Duomo. Terravision bus from Pisa Airport right by the hotel. Hop on/Off Bus 2 mins away and excursions to Pisa&Luca 5 mins around the corner. Perfect location. The hotel itself was excellent value for money. Balcony, tea making facility, free WIFI.Spotless. Staff very friendly. Highly recommend.

The hotel is in a great central location opposite the main train station, within 15 mins walk of Accademia and Uffizi and beside a number of excellent well priced restaurants. Make sure if you make a booking for the hotel that you get a room in the hotel and not the attached building (The Style Florence) which they appear to... More

This was a nice hotel, staff were generally pretty good except 1 rude lady in front desk. Otherwise polite all round. Room was very small. It was clean and comfortable bed but very small. Was 3 € for small bottle of water so prices were expensive. Nice hotel though central location just the lack of service and experience stopped it... More

This hotel is right smack opposite the Firenze SMN station; which was good since we were travelling by train. The hotel is good and the area is quiet despite it being so close to the station. The staff was friendly and the rooms are very good. The breakfast spread is good. The shopping areas are very close by as also... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
