It is pretty much apartment, that turned to be a b&b/hostel. It is about 10 min. walk from the SMN railway station. A bit tricky to find the street. We were moved to the other apartment about 5 min. walk away, probably because we booked private room with private bathroom. Pretty big and clean room, bathroom was relatively big, simple... More

Good - Reasonably friendly behaviour. The guy gave us good travel tips - almost made an itinerary for us on a florence map. We could checkin pretty late and that wasn't a problem, unless some other b&b in that area, which I was considering booking. I had read before travelling that it's bit difficult to find that place and hence... More

It was very expensive for what we had. It is an old appartment changed in an b&b. The Wifi didn't worked in the room. we had to share a kitchen and a bathroom with other people and they could smoke on balcony so it smelled everywhere. Also we had no service, no towel in the bathroom, i had to ask... More

Our room was big and clean plus with private wc. With that price you normally can't find such place to stay in touristic towns. The owner lady was kind and helpful all the time. Location was perfect for both historical center and train station. I would stay again in here.

The personal was so helpful, eventhough we had came a day earlier, they found a place for us. The location is good, so close to the train station and then to the city center. Room was nice and clean, wifi was working. Just minus was that we cannot use a kitchen.

The price is right, the room is big and the bed was nice. The comon baths were clean and simple as was the entire floor. The exterior is kind of strange, we had to call the guy to come let us in, but he was there within 30 seconds to get us our key and let us in. He was... More

Went there with my mother for a 2 day trip. Hotel is a 15 minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella station, not too difficult to reach except that hotel is actually an apartment in the second floor of a building converted into a bed and breakfast. This means you have to pay attention to building numbers an ring the... More

Our room was huge, clean, and visually pleasing. Elvis (his real name - his father was a big Elvis fan) checked us in gave us a rundown on all the attractions, and even noted all the details on a city map. A great value if you're looking for a nice place to stay that is easy on your wallet.

it is true, it fells like home. It is an appartment thansformed in an hotel. You have access to the living room, the tv and the kitchen (only for the refrigerator and the coffee.) The oven doesnt work because it is an old appartment transformed in an hotel but the lady owner was so nice, she ordered a pizza for... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
