We spent 3 nights in Hotel De La Pace and it was a cosy stay. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly with our check-in and queries. Breakfast spread was decent. Free WIFI throughout. Distance from hotel to Duomo and Florence shopping paradise was a 10-min straight path away. Convenient and quiet, away from the bustling streets.

Polite staff (apart from one receptionist on our last day). Lovely rooms. The only two things we didn't like was the lift (a bit old and it did some tricks on one occasion) and the air cooling systems in the room. You cannot set the room temperature yourself inside the room, if we understood correctly every room's temperature is controlled... More

Dear customer, we took duly note of your remarks and we are making sure that our defections may be solved soon. The elevator, as I mentioned in other review is small but it can accommodate comfortably 2 people and the reason why we do not place a larger one is because the City Hall will not allow us as it... Overall this was a good hotel in a pretty good location that was very well priced. Our room was clean and had a decent sized bathroom. It was great that they had AC, which you don't always get in Europe and their complimentary breakfast was very tasty (more options than your typical continental breakfast). We had several wifi issues, often... More

We stayed at hotel de la pace for two nights. Great concierge, very friendly and their advise regarding sight seeing and restaurants were great. The hotel is conveniently located near the city centre and very easy walk to the duomo. Breakfast was good variety and very clean. Loved it and will definitely wanna go back :)

This hotel is in a very good location - walking distance to the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and the main galleries. The staff are also friendly and very helpful. Other features of this hotel are just 'OK'. The lift is tiny and very old fashioned; there is no shower tray, so the bathroom is more like a wetroom, which would be... More

Dear customer, thanks for your review. All of our rooms are differently shaped because as you mentioned our Hotel raised within a 18th century Palace which is making it more ancient than old. The rooms looked very nice and were much more spacious compared to other hotels we stayed in. There was a lot of dust, so make sure to bring flip flops to walk around in. We stayed in the fifth floor and our friends all stayed on the same floor with us. The room all the way down the hall at... More

Dear customer, we remember your case. Unfortunately an element of the air conditioning system in your room got broken and when you mentioned the issue you were experiencing at 5:00 a.m, I personally explained to you that any mainteiner would have been coming the same morning but not at that late time, in fact the problem was solved, and we... We stayed in this establishment for 2 nights during a heat wave (100 degrees). We were on the 5th floor. Our air conditioning worked but never cooled down the room. We did not complain to the front desk, as this was the nature of the particular unit in our room. We were traveling in a group of 53 (33 teenagers),... More

Dear customer, first of all thanks for your attention and for your review. In order to explain better what happened we would like to highlight the fact that Florence had an extraordinary heat wave (more than 100 degrees farenheit) that stressed up all our systems not only the air conditioning systems of our Hotel, but all the a/c systems within... We stayed in this hotel 4 nights, two separate rooms. In reading the other review, the mattresses were on the firmer side, but not completely uncomfortable. I liked the location, right down the street from "David" and a little further down, the Cathedral and piazza. We loved Florence and thought nothing bad about this hotel. The breakfast was satisfactory. The... More

Thank goodness it was only two nights. The lobby is lovely and inviting and implies the rooms will reflect the same. The staff was very accommodating when the air conditioning in our room wasn't working. They moved us to the 5th floor (oh, and the elevator wasn't working) to the 'room that's pictured on the internet' and what a difference... More

Thank god we stayed only one night in this hotel. Conveniently located to major sights in Florence, it appears to be charming from the exterior, the rooms "clean" and we'll decorated. Having booked this via Expedia and reading the reviews, I expected it to be fine. However, the room proved to be dirty (black, dirty feet, crumbs on the bed,... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
