We enjoyed excellent service from an attentive, helpful staff. Our room was nicely decorated in Tuscan style and we enjoyed a glimpse into local life from our terrace. Looking forward to another stay here.

Stayed from July 4 to the 6, 2015. Staff was great since we arrived early getting us in our roam on very hot day! Roam over looked the river and was great. Staff was very helpful in giving directions and idea for sites to see in town. Little off from the major attractions in town but well worth the extra... More

We were really pleased with our selection of hotel in Florence. The Hotel Principe is in very easy walking distance of the city centre, but without being the the crazy busyness that comes with being in the centre. Although our room didn't overlook the river, we did have a beautiful view just the same. Available secure parking was a terrific... More

Right on the river, glorious views from the rooftop terrace, at night and during the day. Lovely rooms, great service. The front desk couldn't have been more helpful in recommending and booking restaurants for dinner. We always had a great meal. The evening aperitif served with snacks was something to look forward to. Breakfasts were a little inconsistent, but we... More

This hotel provided the perfect Florentine experience. It could not have been more charming, from the lovely outdoor garden to the sitting room off of the lobby to the frescoed ceiling of the breakfast room. The staff at the desk were unfailingly accommodating. The hotel has all of the appeal of the pensiones of another era, with all of the... More

We stayed 4 nights at this charming old world hotel. It was like sleeping in a suite at Versailles. High Ceilings parquet floors and beautiful furnishings. Located on the river Arno just a few blocks from the Uffizi Museum. The views are fantastic history at every view. All that said the staff makes this hotel 5 stars, service and caring... More

Yes, I'm late review this hotel. But I can remember this from 3 years ago and this says a lot! The room I booked was great and the staff was always being over backwards for me. I asked over and over to change booked tours and change the dates. I even asked the impossible and book me on the next... More

I enjoyed my 3-nights' stay at this boutique hotel for the most part. 1) Great location - it's located right on the water front, very easy to go out and have a stroll along the beautiful river Arno. Some main attractions (such as Duomo) are within 15~20min walk which is manageable. 2) Beautiful rooftop - I discovered the rooftop the... More

The Principe was a bit old ; very small & slow elevator , small bathtub / shower - which uou would expect to find in older buildings. but well appointed. Lodging in Florence is expensive in general but I expected a bit more for my money. Also, if you get a room on the west side of the building, there... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
