I had a beautiful view of the Arno, room 32, with a great terrace. The hotel let me check in very early, maybe 0930...which was super nice of them. They came in during the day and re-cleaned the room while I was out, which was a nice service, since the room was already clean when I checked in. I have... More

What a wonderful gem! We loved staying at Hotel Principe. We learned the history of the establishment (great story) and loved the charm and elegance of the garden. The frescoes in the public rooms were beautiful. Their reception unfortunately had a smell of cigarettes but our room facing the lovely garden was incredible. It generously fit our family of 4... This is a very good value. The hotel is clean and nicely kept. It's a very old building that has been taken care of. We had a nice room overlooking the river. It was quiet and had a great balcony. The hotel has a great roof terrace that is horribly under utilized. They should add a bar, or serve breakfast... More

A previously wonderful hotel, just outdated and in need of an overhaul. A little out of the buzzy center of Florence which we preferred. Breakfast was rather disappointing but nice free selection of wine, prosecco, and canapés in the afternoon in the common area. Nice and posh touch! Noise level rather high within the hotel (doors). Bedrooms are good sized... More

We enjoyed excellent service from an attentive, helpful staff. Our room was nicely decorated in Tuscan style and we enjoyed a glimpse into local life from our terrace. Looking forward to another stay here.

Stayed from July 4 to the 6, 2015. Staff was great since we arrived early getting us in our roam on very hot day! Roam over looked the river and was great. Staff was very helpful in giving directions and idea for sites to see in town. Little off from the major attractions in town but well worth the extra... More

We were really pleased with our selection of hotel in Florence. The Hotel Principe is in very easy walking distance of the city centre, but without being the the crazy busyness that comes with being in the centre. Although our room didn't overlook the river, we did have a beautiful view just the same. Available secure parking was a terrific... More

Right on the river, glorious views from the rooftop terrace, at night and during the day. Lovely rooms, great service. The front desk couldn't have been more helpful in recommending and booking restaurants for dinner. We always had a great meal. The evening aperitif served with snacks was something to look forward to. Breakfasts were a little inconsistent, but we... More

This hotel provided the perfect Florentine experience. It could not have been more charming, from the lovely outdoor garden to the sitting room off of the lobby to the frescoed ceiling of the breakfast room. The staff at the desk were unfailingly accommodating. The hotel has all of the appeal of the pensiones of another era, with all of the... More

We stayed 4 nights at this charming old world hotel. It was like sleeping in a suite at Versailles. High Ceilings parquet floors and beautiful furnishings. Located on the river Arno just a few blocks from the Uffizi Museum. The views are fantastic history at every view. All that said the staff makes this hotel 5 stars, service and caring... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
