Pluses: great location, very friendly and helpful owners and staff. Minuses: I will definitely rate it as a 2 star rather than a 3 star hotel. We stayed all over Italy at other 3 star hotels that were truly 3 star, so we can really see the difference. We had a couple of different issues in our room, which the... More

The hotel is located almost at the very heart of Florence, which gives the comfort of walking distance to the main sightseeing sites of the old city center, such as the Dom, Palazzo Vecchio, Piazza di la Signora and further even to Galleria Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. There is a supermarket just next door, and further grocery stores are all... More

The hotel is beautifully located in the centre of historic Florence. You can walk pretty much everywhere in Jess than 20 mns. There is a close by (and secure) parking, at about €15 the night. The rooms are decent and clean, the staff is great and very helpful, and the continental breakfast is served with a smile. Great deal!

This certainly live up to the quality reviews of the past. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly from the moment we arrived. Nothing was any problem. Location was also a bonus - in walking distance of the railway station and all the attractions Florence has to offer; one exception being the magnificent (and must do) walk to Piazzale Michelangelo's... The hotel is situated in a very central area. It's within waking distance to the train station, museums, the market, and il duomo. There's also a supermarket next door. The staff were very friendly, and the room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was decent, and we had a great cappuccino served to us as well. Overall we had a very... More

The hotel lived up to its name - gioia - a joy to stay there. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful, even lending a laptop. We had a great room with its own patio area. Bathroom huge. Great location only 5 mins walk to Acadamie in one direction and St Peters etc in the other. Very central with supermarket... More

My wife and I stayed at hotel Gioia in October 2013 for 3 nights. The location is excellent! The hotel has an affordable price and is in a great location. Only minutes away from el Duomo and not very far from the train station (Santa Maria Novella). It was in a great central locatoion. We walked to just about everything... More

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Gioia in November for 2 nights during our trip to Italy. We took the train from Rome and walked from the Santa Maria Novella station to the hotel, which was only about a 10 minute walk. When we got there our room was ready. The hotel staff is really friendly and they... More

This is a nice little basic hotel to rest your head after a day exploring the delights of Florence. But please don't be going expecting frills, as you will not find many. I was travelling with my Grandmother who insisted that she just wanted somewhere cheap and basic to rest her head, however on arriving it soon became apparent that... More
