My first impression of Hotel City was not overwhelming. It is located on a side street near the train station, so the location is good. The block where it is located is not that attractive, and there is construction next door, with scaffolding, which makes it noisy during the day. The room, #27, was of average size, but it did... When on a budget it is sometimes hard to find a place that fits the bill but this is such a place. It doesnt look great from the outside but it is lovely inside with great Italian style. The rooms are spacious and the bed comfortable. It's a relatively easy walk to most things you want to see in Florence... More

On our European vacation we mostly booked hotels that were recommended by Rick Steves, so we weren't sure what to expect at this hotel that isn't included in his books, but we were pleasantly surprised to find this spot that has old world charm. It is only about a block from the train station, and although the street it is... More

I was a little worried when I booked this little hotel tucked behind the train station in Florence - because it's well priced for a city where things are pretty expensive in terms of hotels that are well located - but it's fantastic! A short walk from the train station - no need at all for a taxi. Also easy... More

We stayed in this hotel for 5 days and it is a great hotel. First, it is very near the train station and the City centre. The walk from the train station is only 5 minutes and it is also close to the bus stations. It is not far from the open market and there are so many good restaurants... More

The Hotel is located about a 10-minute walk from the Firenze SMN train station. Rooms are adequate and bathrooms are spacious. Breakfast is European with American coffee on request. Hotel staff is very helpful. Directions and restaurant recommendations were very helpful. There is an excellent restaurant just across the street. “La Padellaccia” (see review). There is a lift in the... More

You will need the hotel's detailed instructions, or a very good map, to find this place. The streets around the train station are a bit confusing. Yes, we chose this place partly because it's close to the station; we were on a side trip from Venice and would be in and out of the station with bags. The street looks... More

We had a fine stay at Hotel City. My review is average only due to the noise level at the hotel. The walls are thin e.g. a mobile phone on vibrate in the next room kept us awake at 1 a.m. and kept going off (not sure why no one answered it). We were on the second floor near the... More
