The hotel is in a great location. It is about 2 minutes walk from the Uiffizi gallery and about 5 minutes from Santa Croce which is a good place to eat out at night. It's worth trying the ice cream from Perche No! or Vivoli. The hotel has a roof terrace which is open to all (it is on the... more
Can't beat the location - short walk to almost all the "must see" in the city. The room feels like a room in a house not a hotel - got one with a balcony with a table and chair overlooking the plaza - actually more like the parking lot - but was not in the room other than to sleep... more
Great location right next door to the Uffizi and the Ponte Vecchio. it's an easy walk to everything else. The hotel itself was nice but the room was probably a bit below average. The hard tile floors and VERY minimal lighting kind of make you feel like you're in a bad dorm room. The staff was nice and responsive when... more
Very nice hotel, we had a room in the second floor with a view in Piazza Mentana and the river also. The location is great, close to EVERYTHING. 2 blocks from Uffizi, 5 minutes from Ponte Vecchio, close to Santa Croce, Duomo, 20 mins from the wonderful Piazzale Michelangiolo. We were walking all day sightseeing so when it came to... more
We chose the hotel for its location on the Arno River and its proximity to where our daughter, a student at Florence University of the Arts, is living. The hotel accommodated our request for a room on a higher floor with a view of the river--we were given a corner room on the fourth floor looking across at the Boboli... more
The location was great. The lobby is absolutely no indication of what the rooms look like. They are small and not very clean. The staff is really less than courteous. On the other hand, we should have known that for that price, you can´t expect too much. more
We stayed 5 nights at the Balestri. It is one short block past the Uffizi Museum directly on the Arno River. Breakfast is included, and is quite substantial, including coffee, tea and juice, cereals, fruits, croissants, cheese and ham. Egg dishes can be ordered at an extra cost. Our room, on the 3rd floor, was a corner, with a view... more
The best part about this hotel is its location. It is situated on the river, about 80-100m from the Uffici Gallery. Its very quiet, and my room (dont know if all have it) had a beautiful view of the river and the gardens on the other side of the Arno. The common rooms are very oldfashioned, but in a good... more
The hotel was quite convenient to all the major sites, however.... if you get a room overlooking the Arno river, you could be in big trouble with street noise. We were on the 2nd floor for 2 nights and all we heard were ambulences and people yelling on the street. When we asked to be moved, we were told that... more
