Location is nice and close to the train station. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in an older room which was nice and very well insulated from the street noise. Beds were definitely in need of an upgrade but overall it was a decent place. I would stay here again my next vacation.

The hotel is in a prime location for exploring Florence- pretty much everything is in walking distance! Except things like the Piazzale Michelangelo and some parts of the Oltrano. Breakfast was simple but good. Rooms were cleaned to a good standard, The staff were so helpful in calling taxis and trip firms for us as our Italian is not brilliant!... More

We (me and my wife) stayed at the Unicorno for 2 nights. This hotel has a great location and frendly staff. We stayed in a spacious room, which is next to breakfast room, equipped with mini-bar, air conditioning, Wi-fi, TV and satellite. The hotel is clean and the ratio quality-price is good. The breakfast schedule is 07.30-10.00, and is very... More

This hotel has a great location! 5 minutes walk from the train station and we were able to walk to all the other sites we visited while in Florence. The room was large, with big cupboards and a clean bathroom. We had stayed at quite a few small rooms during our trip so this was a pleasant change! Breakfast was... More

My wife and I stayed at the Unicorno for 3 nights. It was a budget friendly hotel in a great location of Florence. Very close to all major attractions and the train station. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly but that's where the good ends. We were on our honeymoon and had no idea that the third floor was "nicely... More

If you can, get a superior room! They are on the renovated rooms, located on the third floor. The room was very spacious, and gave off the good feeling of it being clean and modern. The bathroom was very clean and updated as well. Not sure how the other rooms appear to be, but the renovated ones are the way... More

The hotel and it's rooms are definitely a bit dated and small, but clean and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Breakfast was a standard continental, but with scrambled eggs and sausage as well. Double insulated windows and shutters made for a very quiet and cool room. There is no view to speak of, a room facing the street just... More

We chose to upgrade to one of their newer rooms and it was definitely worth it. It was a fair sized room, very modern and newly furnished. The bathroom was lovely. Very clean and neat. The staff are fantastic and probably the most clued up receptionist yet in terms of the attractions in Florence. Comfortable bed and great location if... More

close to train station, near lots of sidewalk restaurants, easy walking distance to river and many Piazza's. Staff friendly enough and room clean and plenty big enough. Breakfast basic usual European style.

Ideally located, a short walk from the railway station and the city sights. This hotel is situated down a small side street and looks pretty unimpressive from the outside. However, we were very happy with our room on the third floor. It was clean and quiet, with free wifi, a powerful shower and comfortable beds. We expected a roll and... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
