So if your expecting a 5 star hotel... this is not for you. it is basic and clean. Definitely not upto the standards like best westin. Staff are extremely polite an helpful, rooms were cleaned and tidied to a high standard, and breakfast selection was good. If you factor in the price , location, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff... More

Had a terrible time finding this place and had to park a few blocks away and looked quite haggard by the time we checked into the hotel. Our hosts immediately offered us cold water and helped us with our luggage. Our room was fairly small - our hosts put us in a larger room the next day for a very... More

Cosy, clean and good location close to station and very heart of Florance. This hotel is good example about essential of accommodation; even building and interior is old and a bit worned out it is ok when it is clean and toilet, shower and bed are well maintained. Breakfast was ok and only minus is that there is nothing fresh... More

Very cute and clean old hotel in Santa Maria Novella district. Hotel is located on the second floor in the building. First floor and the elevator is a bit creepy, but on the second floor you find a nice, clean and cute hotel with a nice staff. Building is very old, but room was super clean and bathroom new and... The first impression of this hotel wasn't the best as you have to slog up a steep staircase (there is a small, aged elevator that can take 1-2 people) to reception. The hotel itself is split over 2 corridors on that level (very uncertain about what might be on the floors above) and in that sense is secure. The rooms... More

The location is within walking distance of the train station and most of the attractions. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was okay. I would stay again.

It is a small hotel just a block from the channel, and very clean. It is close to everything so you can walk everywhere. English is very limited with the staff. Breakfast is minimal but as long as there is coffee, cheese and toast in the morning was happy.

This hotel is centrally located to restaurants, high end shopping, markets, museums, churches, all things Medici. The staff were very polite and though speaking little English, helped us as much as they could. We could've learned more Italian. The rooms were clean and each had a private bath. I will stay there again when next in Florence.

We stayed in Florence, at Hotel Goldoni, for 3 nights. We had a late check in because of our flight. We found the night porter didn't speak English - which was a slight problem! The room was basic but very clean. The beds were ok, not the most comfortable, but not the worst we had been on either. The bathroom... More

Florence is all about the historical center, and this hotel is almost near everything. You can visit museums, the Market, restaurants or plan a trip to Toscany-Sienna with a rent Car (the town exit is near). The train station is also near, you can go by foot. The breakfast is just ok, small clean rooms, not much of a view... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
