Comfortable boutique hotel only minutes from Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Had a good family feel with friendly staff and an excellent buffet breakfast. Even better, an endless supply of coffee throughout the day. Will be returning for our next visit to Florence.

Stayed 3 nights in the Alba Hotel and the experience is globally positive. First location is a key point, as only 100m from train station and same from Santa Maria Novella Place, Historical centers is a couple of blocks away (10mn walk), you'll definitely forget about transportation here. The hotel is really charming, with a great terasse, very typical colors... More

We stayed here for only two nights, from what we saw of the hotel it was quite good, the staff were polite and friendly. Anytime we were near the hotel we would pop in for the free Coffee they had for hotel guests which was good. The bedroom and the bathroom were also good and quite a decent size.

Second visit to hotel Alba and again the family room was stunning and the staff helpful and friendly. The double size jacuzzi was a welcome bonus as was the time saving double shower. Room was on 2 levels the upstairs being as well thought out as the downstairs. The whole hotel has been lovingly put together and the little touches... More

Well-located in between the train station and the centre, this place is friendly and clean. Couldn't have asked for more at this price level. Would recommend and stay again. Breakfast is light on warm options but this is typical of Italy. They have a "leave your key at reception" policy. which I'm not a fan of as anyone can come... More

We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It was lovely and clean, great breakfast and nice staff. The breakfast staff especially were very friendly and had great service. It was very close to train about a 4 minute walk from train station and also in walking distance to the main part of town.

Good location within walking distance of Florence's cultural center and close to the train station. Good breakfast and good standard of rooms. Small shower and toilet, but everything works well. You can drive to the hotel without getting into the ZTL. The hotel has valet parking service.

Stayed here with my husband July 2015. Hotel is ideally located for all of the sights. All of the staff we encountered were warm and welcoming. The room itself was small with only one small offset window which meant the room was dark and felt claustrophobic. There was a TV in the room but non Italian speaking channels. The was... More

We stayed here two years ago, early summer 2013. Very close to the train station (where the airport bus drops you) and within walking distance of all the *attractions* - if you are fit. I have FMS and after a couple of days I was done in, but there is no shortage of cafes and restaurants to stop off in.... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
