I choose the Machiavelli cause it's situated in the historical center of Florence, near the Duomo and 500mt. far from the train station. Machiavelli Palace Hotel satisfied all my needs. It's a quiet place for relaxing in a modern but classic atmosphere. The hotel's WIFI internet connection worked great even on the 4th floor and the large conference room was... more
Very pleased with our stay at the Machiavelli palace. Our room and en-suite were spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The location was perfect and much better than we expected. Breakfast on our first morning (Friday) was excellent - fresh pineapple and melon with all of the other continental items. However, Saturday and Sunday mornings were not quite as good -... more
Florence was my first stop on a three week vacation traveling throughout Europe. We got there way before check in and were greeted warmly by the front desk. They told us that our room was not ready and that they could hold our bags until it was ready. When we came back at the time they said earlier we had... more
My friends and I stayed at Machiavelli Palace for three nights during the last week of March. In fact, Roberto assisted us with an issue we were having with a hotel in Rome. He truly... more

Machiavelli Palace is a very pleasant, perfectly acceptable small hotel very close to Santa Maria Novella station in Florence - (no, we didn't see any pimps and prostitutes!) The location and price were both excellent, the room very, very clean with sheets changed every day. The fridge was welcome, even in January, to chill your white wine. The concierge was... more
Strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The pictures shown online do not match the hotel, staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful, hotel is dirty, rooms full of cigarette smoke. We arrived, checked into our room and when requested another room (non- smoking) were refused. Of all the hotels we stayed in Italy and some of them weren't so great... more
We stayed one night at the hotel which is just 5 minutes away from the Santa Maria Novella train station. Lovely location along a stretch of shoping area and cafes. BUT there are lots of foreign touts of African and South Asian descent, making it seem a little uncomfortable at times but, it is an issue common to the Florence... more
