We arrived by plane and took the bus shuttle to the railway station. Hotel Rivoli was only 5 minutes walk away, which was great because it was nearly 40 degrees! We were very warmly greeted by the concierge and the porter took our luggage to the room for us. We had requested a room overlooking the courtyard and we were... More

Excellent placed hotel. Lived up to its reputation. Very friendly, hospitable staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Ideally situated for sight seeing in Florence. Highly recommended. Scrumptious breakfasts.

This is a great hotel, the room was a great size for a family of 4 and the bathroom and shower clean and all working well. The breakfast was very good, regular top ups and fresh good coffee, proper English tea and lots of choice. The small plunge pool is just what you need to cool down after a day... More

Our second stay here. We can confirm all the good things written about the Rivoli in previous reviews. Helpful staff (especially Francesca at the reception desk), convenient location near the station (but not noisy) and close to the main sights. Breakfast was good, and the restaurant was excellent. Our room on the second floor was fine, just not as large... More

Me and my wife recently stayed at the Hotel Rivoli for just one night. The Hotel is perfectly located and you are within walking distance from everywhere so no need for public transportation. If you come by train you hit the jackpot since the Santa Maria Novella's station is only a short walk away. The Hotel is very nice and... More

Great location, between train station and central downtown. 5 min walk to both of these. The lobby and shared places are luxurious with a heritage feel. The rooms are nice and the breakfast downstairs is a great way to start tech day. Staff were very polite and helpful. Would highly recommend

This hotel is placed in a great location in Florence. Very easy to get to most attractions with a few minutes walk. The court yard, lobby, and breakfast dining areas are very nice. Rooms need some updating such as new carpeting, furniture and paint/wall paper. The jacuzzi is nice but could use a good cleaning.

While on our honeymoon touring Italy we had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Rivoli. It was in a perfect location near all the sights and even the train station where most of the tours embark. Our highlight however was the bartender Gianfranco. He made our stay 1st rate even serving us drinks at the jacuzzi area. Secondly, he referred... More

We have stayed here twice and the hotel is a beautiful historic building so close to everything in Florence!! Our room was spotlessly clean and our room faced the street but was very quiet! The staff was charming and so helpful. The dining room was lovely and the breakfast was sumptuous!! So many choices!! We could walk to the train... More

My Husband & I stayed at Rivoli, and love the room we stayed in. Very comfortable bed, A/C was great, the room was big with a sitting room and lovely bathroom. We loved that we could walk the city and not have to take a cab. The Staff at the hotel were very helpful, always available for questions and simply... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
