After spending three disappointing nights in a Rome hotel (posted separately of course) we arrived at the Rivoli for a five night stay. The hotel was just about perfect. The rooms were large by European standards as well as the washroom. There was no street noise whatsoever, the beds comfortable, and as important, the service and care of the staff... More

My husband and I have just returned from our fourth visit to Florence. This was also our fourth time staying at the Rivoli. The staff have become more and more like family every time we go. We recently spent 2 nights at the Hotel Rivoli as part of a package purchased through Expedia. We were very satisfied with our stay. The room was spacious, the hotel was within walking distance of the center of Florence and the sights we were interested in, the staff was helpful and pleasant, the small pool/spa was a welcome relief from... Certianly one of the best hotels during our Italy trip. We booked two rooms and both were above average with respect to roominess and cleanliness. The staff was extremely helpful and very curteous. The restaraunt was exceptional and would highly recommend it even if you are not staying there.

Super hotel. All the staff was very polite, friendly and very helpful to assist with any of our needs. The hotel is a little difficult to find but once there everything is great. Room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Perfect location for easy walking about the Old City and seeing the sights. No parking on site but they... More

Booked two rooms for a two night stay. Everything excellent from sorting the parking to friendly helpful staff and quality rooms. Near everything you want to see in Florence. Has 3 michlein star hotel within so the breakfasts are very good. Don't bother no pressure at all to dine in.

Just returned from 2 night stay in Florence with my husband. Rivoli was of a very good standard, lovely decor, central location, charming courtyards and very friendly, efficient staff. Air con was excellent and VERY necessary in July! Food in hotel very good - plenty of choice for breakfast and good value evening menu. Bathroom too small - maybe remove... More

we had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Rivoli and would be back in a heartbeat. It is well located near the main station and car rental offices, but once inside you are swept back into Renaissance splendour in a former convent dating back centuries. The internal courtyard and breakfast area is lovely, the American Bar and adjoining drawing room... More

Once you've settled we highly recommend you enjoy a drink and snack at the bar. You will be welcomed by a friendly well spoken gentleman by the name of GIANFRANCO. He is always eager to ask how your day has been whether spent sightseeing or just a stroll through Florence...Thank you Gianfranco for making our experience in Florence more enjoyable!... More

We stay one night only in one of the suites, nice spacious suite with two bedrooms. walking distance to the train station( Santa Maria Novella), The staff was very friendly and useful. We were a little bit concerned for some of the reviews about the location( pickpocketing apparently is more frequently seen around the train station), but I have to... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
