Very nice hotel in a old building with an excellent location close to everything. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was a bit dull, so after a couples of days we changed to coffee on the Santa Maria Novella Piazza instead.

Excellent hotel, room and food. Dinner on the roof terrace with great views, food and service from a young member of staff who could not do enough for us. Recommend to anybody wanting a central hotel at a reasonable cost. Room was quiet and air conditioning was effective without noise. Would use again on a revisit.

The hotel is centrally located and clean with helpful staff. It is in an old building which has a lot of character, but poor sound proofing. Avoid adjoining rooms if you're not with the people next door as it will sound like you are all in the same room. The roof top terrace is lovely as are the communal areas... More

We come regularly to Florence and i love this place. Great staff, and an amazing location just 10 minutes walk from the Duomo; 5 minutes walk from the river. Croce di Malta is an excellent base for exploring Florence, and don't miss their spectacular roof terrace for an evening drink.

A great location, for walking everywhere. It's very clean, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful .my only negatives are that the carpets need replacing ASAP and it would be nice if they kept the roof bar open after 7.30.

we had an amazing experience here, the room was very big and comfortable with everything you might need, staff is nice and helping, the view from the terrace is breathtaking and the swimming pool and garden make sure you can relax even in the hottest days. Definitely suggested!

Stayed for three days. The location is a bit away from the big sites but it keeps you away from too much noise. There are taxis if you can't do the walking, but I'm out of shape and I survived. I had few interactions with front desk but they were pleasant and called a taxi for us once. Breakfast was... More

My sister and I spent three nights in this hotel in Florence. We have been coming to Florence for a while now and you get a feel for a place. The reviews you see reflect the differing opinions which makes for an 'unreliable' experience. My sister had a problem with the room overnight; on a stifling hot day - 37... More

We stayed here for 5 days on our recent trip to Florence. Although somewhat away from the city center, it is an easy walk to all the central locations, the train station, and too many amazing restaurants to count. The hotel staff are friendly and go above and beyond to make guest feel comfortable and welcome. The outdoor garden is perfect... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
