Stayed at this hotel July 12-14, 2015 as part of the big three tour of italy. This hotel was clean and fresh. The breakfast was the best of all the hotels I stayed at during my vacation. I arrived by train from Venice and it is a short walk from the Santa Maria Novella station. Close to the major sites:... More

We stayed in this hotel on our Florence leg of the tour around Italy. The reception is stunning and the staff are equally as helpful. They helped us organ use a day trip to Chianti. The room was really spacious, bright and luminous. The bathroom was more than adequate with both a bath and a shower. The wifi also worked... More

While the location is good for people who want to be near the Arno and the new opera house, just about everything that can be gotten wrong is. The rooms are cramped, noisy, mouldy. The breakfast is wretched. The laundry service (which is sent out) is a disaster. My shirts were returned damp and wrinkled and never fully recovered. And... More

Dear Guest, Replying to your review It is quite difficult for me, as it concerns your stay in April but you have posted in July. The only complaint I received about the laundry in the last months has been easily solved, as the laundry company offered a full refund for a lost shirt (the Guest who had the lost shirt... More

A thoroughly modernised hotel in an historic building, the Executive is smart, spotless and decorated to suit the building. High ceilings throughout, including the bedrooms, give a spacious feel. The public areas of the hotel are beautifully decorated with a spacious and comfortable lounge/bar area with plenty of comfortable seating. We had room 116, which was a large sized room,... More

If my room was wider than 5 feet I'll eat my arm. The hotel staff was not very helpful and minimally polite. You can not fit luggage and yourself in the single room unless all you have is a carry on. The shower stall is so small you risk injury just closing the door. One very small bath towel and... More

Dear Ms Karen, I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay in our hotel. I agree with you that your single room was not big. Room width is not the 5 feet you wrote, but more than double. And there is enouhg spacce for 1 person and luggage, otherwise we would not be authorised to sell it. You say... More

A comfortable hotel a 5 to 10 minute walk from the train station (Firenze S.M.N). Helpful reception staff and a pleasant breakfast buffet. The room was big enough for us and our long-weekend worth of luggage. The ensuite bathroom had a good shower. The bed was big and very comfy - just what was needed after a long day sightseeing.... Okay location and staff . The rooms and common places need a little freshening and up dating. But clean and comfortable . They would not bring an iron and ironing board to my room. I had to go down into the basement to iron and the breakfast is very basic and limited.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
