Is a decent hotel, about 15 minutes by cab from the Florence Train station and is not too far away (about 30 mins walk) from the sights - Uffizi, Bridge-Pente Vecchio etc. Breakfast is reasonable, housekeeping efficient, room was averagely large (we only look for hotels with rooms larger than 20m/200 sq ft and this was) Since we were midway... When you got lost around the city and you're trying to beat the checkout time of 12noon, the sweetest thing you'll hear from the reception staff is "it's absolutely ok, take your time, madam". This is how friendly and warm the staff is at Star Hotels Michaelangelo, looking after their guests. When I arrived from an early morning flight from... More

upon disembarking from a cruise, we headed off to Florence. As the bus neared the hotel, I saw that it was very close to the river where bridges of interest were. I was pleasantly surprised. When we checked in, it was expedient and our keys were ready. We stayed at the 6th floor and the elevators were quick and silent.... More

We were booked into this comfortable 4 star hotel with a group tour. The décor is contemporary, the spacious lobby is on several levels, and the room was large, well equipped and quiet. It's about a 15 minute walk from the popular attractions in Florence., but the footsore traveler can take a cab back, as we did. The staff made... More

Stayed with my wife for 3 nights in May. Rooms were of a high standard compared to other hotels I had stayed in previously in Florence, they were spacious, comfortable and decorated to a high standard. Female reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful (male staff not as friendly). Good choices for breakfast and quality was good, again male staff... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
