Florence was fine, but I have to say, staying at this hotel made it fantastic. The atmosphere, decor, and service were very high and exceeded our expectations. There is nothing better than having something special to return to after a long day of exploring the city and surrounding areas. Imagine walking into a quaint, perfectly-preserved castle seeing and that should... More

Nice hotel on a quiet street near the University and Accademia. A bit of a stroll to the Uffizi/Ponte Vecchio/Oltrano, but an easy one. Room and bathroom was Italy-small but pleasant. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was fine. Staff is very warm and kind.

Very good experience. Good service, good view from room, and their was a great breakfast. Definitely recommend this to families who want to experience Florence for a cheap price. Rooms with a Terrace are exceptionally beautiful.

The hotel was beautiful and a perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Our room was spacious, with a couch, deck and mini fridge. Location was easily walkable from major sights (5 minutes to Accademia, 10 to Duomo, 15 to Uffizi), and the breakfast was delicious! Staff are friendly and very professional, with fluent English. Would love... More

We had a very good experience from the reservation until we left. We arrived late at night and they were waiting for us. The hotel and our room were nice and neat with character. Although our room was a not very large (we booked it on the same day that we arrived and it was the only one available), it... More

We recently stayed at the Morandi (for one of us it was a repeat visit) and found it to be mediocre. Location is not that great, and the hotel seems understaffed. There is no one on desk after 9 or 9:30 p.m., so if you lose your key, you're pretty well out of luck. The rooms and bathrooms could use... More

Thank you for your review. I wish to point out that the front desk not being staffed at night does not mean there is no assistance. A night surveillance service is at the hotel frequently and a person is on call constantly all night. If one loses his key, one can still enter the hotel through the nights surveillance personnel... We have stayed at the Morandi many times before and based upon that experience we had no hesitation when we booked again. The rooms are well furnished and clean and the reception area very lovely. The staff is very, very helpful and friendly. Some rooms are small so it is wise to look at pictures at their site and on... More

In the middle of a long, narrow, dim alley, where graffiti covers the walls and sickening sewer gasses rise up from the gratings, is [hotel]. If you're still reading and have not gone on to look for a different hotel by now, know that things only marginally improve upon entering. Be sure to arrive during daylight hours. No one is... More

I am so very sorry to hear of your unsatisfactory stay with us. Thank you however for your impressions which we are carefully taking into consideration to better our service and the hotel in general. The condition of the street, typical of residential streets in the historical centre of Florence, is beyond our control and I would like to reassure... More

Hotel Morandi is located close to the Duomo, in a very quiet street. Very convenient to start your walking tour of this gorgeous city. The welcome is very friendly, very helpful. The rooms are nice, homy, well decorated and comfortable. There is even a carpark for you if you need. All in all good value for money...

My husband, sister, niece, and myself stayed at this hotel for three nights in May. It is a great location and we were able to walk everywhere. The staff were so nice and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was good. I would definitely stay at this hotel again the next time we visit Florence.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
