Stayed 2 nights in this former convent whose rooms are decorated with old frescoes making very a very unique experience. My room was very spacious and simply impressive. Classy furniture, frescoes on the walls and ceiling, beautiful wooden floors, comfortable bed - overall great. The service quality was also great and the location is good - far enough from the... A quaint historic hotel that gives you a really authentic stay in beautiful Florence. We stayed in a gorgeous twin room which was spotlessly clean and a good sized bathroom. A minute walk from the Duomo and less to the Accademie. Professional and friendly staff and a continental breakfast that will easily keep you going until lunchtime.

as a family of 7, we travelled to Florence in early August, booking three rooms in the Morandi alla Crocetta hotel. our welcome was good, and the rooms provided were all together on the same floor. one of the reasons we booked here was that it provided air conditioning as we were expecting temperatures in the mid 30s Celsius. Upon... More

If you like history and its atmosphere (the hotel is an ex convent), then this hotel is for you, too. Authentic paintings and furniture, very clean and, above all, the friendliest staff I've met recently. Since I am on a special diet, they've made me my fruit breakfast, althow it wasn't on the menu. And the location is fantastic -... More

Usually in Italy I have found that you cannot rely on the number of stars of a hotel to know what kind of treatment you are going to receive. That is why we were totally taken by surprise by our experience at Hotel Morandi alla Crocetta. The location was incredible, a short walking distance from the Duomo and the Accademia,... More

Florence was fine, but I have to say, staying at this hotel made it fantastic. The atmosphere, decor, and service were very high and exceeded our expectations. There is nothing better than having something special to return to after a long day of exploring the city and surrounding areas. Imagine walking into a quaint, perfectly-preserved castle seeing and that should... More

Nice hotel on a quiet street near the University and Accademia. A bit of a stroll to the Uffizi/Ponte Vecchio/Oltrano, but an easy one. Room and bathroom was Italy-small but pleasant. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was fine. Staff is very warm and kind.

Very good experience. Good service, good view from room, and their was a great breakfast. Definitely recommend this to families who want to experience Florence for a cheap price. Rooms with a Terrace are exceptionally beautiful.

The hotel was beautiful and a perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Our room was spacious, with a couch, deck and mini fridge. Location was easily walkable from major sights (5 minutes to Accademia, 10 to Duomo, 15 to Uffizi), and the breakfast was delicious! Staff are friendly and very professional, with fluent English. Would love... More

We had a very good experience from the reservation until we left. We arrived late at night and they were waiting for us. The hotel and our room were nice and neat with character. Although our room was a not very large (we booked it on the same day that we arrived and it was the only one available), it... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
