Just 1 good thing = Good Location. Thats all. Rooms are very old furnished. Dirty Bathroom, No towel, noisy poor A/C, very over priced. Low pressure shower without a tube. Mood killer room. I advise trallers to BEWARE of this Hotel.

This was my first visit to a European hotel and my wife's second. The smallness of European hotels can be alarming at first, but after spending five nights here it started to grow on us. The bathroom was of decent size and the room itself was big enough, especially considering we were spending most of our day out of the... More

Booked last minute and was looking for a good location in Florence. Excellent location close to Duomo, shopping and restaurants. Older outdated hotel which could use some renovations. Should have better signage at the entrance as we were unsure when we entered where reception was. Room and bathroom were small. Unfortunately, we were located on the side of the hotel... More

The location couldn't be better. I had not reserved museum times and same day staff made arrangements for me. So helpful. It was modern clean and comfortable, my room was quiet and in a easy to access area as I requested due to mobility issues. It is an historical building in an ancient part of the city. If you dont... The hotel reception area and rooms are on an upper floor of a multi-purpose building. The location is absolutely perfect, one block from the Duomo on the pedestrian-only street leading to the Palazzo Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery. The clerk was friendly, and in response to an earlier review, we got our passport back 45 minutes after we checked in... More

The location makes this hotel! The room was fine but the bathroom was very small and narrow. The wifi is free and fast. The breakfast was ok. The staff are lovely. Was concerned when we collect our passports next morning after checking in the afternoon before that they were not locked away but in the pigeon holes near the front... More

Perfect location for touring by foot in heart of pedestrian historical center. Clean modern comfortable. Quiet for heart of city. Staff went beyond to get my reservations for museums on short notice. Plus breakfast was great starter. If give it 5 star for price range. Will stay again.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Maxim on my first trip to Florence and had a very good experience. The hotel is very centrally located - on the main drag and just a few hundred yards from the Duomo. The staff was very accommodating and the room was very comfortable and I found it to be a good value, especially... More

We recently stayed at Hotel Maxim / Hotel Axial. Pros: centrally located, easy to get around Large bottles of water readily available to buy, very handy Friendly staff Lift for days where you can't be bothered with more stairs Cons: The room was very hot despite it being cold outside, we did have a window, which opened to a courtyard,... Hotel Maxim in Florence is wonderfully located, just meters from the "Domo", in an area with lots of restaurants and shops. The hotel is on the 3rd floor, and is spread on that floor. It's is charming in a way, small lobby and very plain dinning room. we had a room for 4, which was very very crowded. we could... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
