My family stayed at Loggiato Serviti back in 2001. We had an excellent experience, so we stayed again on a recent trip to Florence. The beds and furnishings are in the 3 star range, but the staff and history of the building raise it to a higher level. The staff are extremely attentive and friendly and made our second stay... Stayed here one night with a large group of friends in June 2014 and we enjoyed it immensely. Is truly a historic residenza chock full of character. Interior feels cool and dark, with parquet floors, quirky layout, hidden sitting rooms upstairs, and a helpful staff. Bathroom was clean and serviceable, although towels were a bit thin and rough. Breakfast is... More

We stayed here as part of a tour group and it was listed as a 3 star hotel, but we would give it more. Friendly (and fluent) staff, but more so we loved our room. Large by European standards, but we had a view of Il Duomo that was wonderful. The bathroom was reasonably sized as well. Breakfast was above... More

This small hotel is a museum; it is worth a visit just to see the marvelous public spaces furnished with beautiful items from Florence's past. We stayed a week in a lovely room with canopied bed and a view of the garden of an art school. We enjoyed great breakfasts. When we left the hotel we stepped directly into the... More

Hotel Loggiato is a pretty decent hotel by Italy standards. We were placed in a room in their annex which I initially wasn't happy with, but then was glad after I noticed that a lot of homeless people sleep in the piazza outside the main building. Also, we happened to be staying during the florence film festival and every night... More

Classic Florentine architecture in romantic setting close to old town Florence. Thats how I would describe Loggiato Dei Serviti. The hotel is right off a plaza (name escapes me) a great place to hang out in the evenings after trekking all over Florence and enjoy some nice gelato. Our room was very spacious with high ceilings and classic Florentine decor,... More

This hotel is where you want to be. Centrally located within sight of il Duomo, around the corner from l' Academe, it's clean, quiet and welcoming. The staff is friendly and accommodating. On some of the hottest days of the summer the air conditioning was robust and welcome.

This was our first trip to Florence and our visit was greatly enhanced by our staying at this wonderful hotel. It is located on a classic Italian square one block from the Academia and 2 blocks from the Duomo. The building was an old monastery and the place is like staying in a museum. The staff was wonderful and accommodating... More

A lovely calm hotel. Unfortunately I booked a single room (No 29) and it was a bit cell-like, despite the mural painted around the walls. Still it was adequate and the AC worked magnificently with the mid-30 degree heat outside. My daughter was given a room which was at least 5 times bigger than mine, which was wonderful. Both rooms... Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your stay with us and for sending your evaluation. I'm glad you loved so our hotel and our location. We know that the lift is tiny, but was the best we could have in an ancient structure like our building. I hope to have you back our guests. Best regards Rodolfo Budini Gattai More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
