Although it is a little away from the centre it took only ten minutes to walk to Santa Maria Novello. I imagine that it must be an absolute haven from the heat in summer. Quiet understated luxury, very welcoming and helpful staff. The overall feeling I experienced was that of a long time guest returning and getting a sincere welcome.... More

The hotel is beautiful. Loved the lobby and breakfast room. The breakfast staff was very nice and efficient. Hotel staff in general was very nice helping us book restaurants and city info. We originally chose this hotel because of its proximity to the location of the Pitti Uomo trade fair but we would now choose it for any trip to Florence . It is a beautiful and comfortable hotel for winter or summer. The neighborhood is quiet and within a few minutes from the center of town- also a nice walk to... More

Nice enough, overly attentive staff but clean and comfortable for a work visit. 10 mins walk to Ponte Vecchio and the rest of the city. I was disappointed to find that breakfast was not included despite paying €320 a night!

We were met at the door by 3 people and couldn't have asked for better service. The concierge was gracious and helpful from dinner recommendations to directions. My family of four had adjoining rooms. Both rooms each had a bottle of champagne and white wine. The wine was not of our choosing but it was a nice touch. There was... More

Our first visit to Florence and we wanted to stay somewhere traditionally linked to this fabulous place. The Hotel Villa Medici did not disappoint. From the outside alone this impressive structure oozes character, it's huge, I mean colossal. Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
