A grand Hotel in the old style. Warm greeting with tour of hotel. Upgraded on arrival to next best room - with a large balcony. Slightly worn at edges but that is normal for this type of hotel. Room not the largest but with large balcony. Flat screen TV. Bathroom good with unbranded Santa Maria Novella Phamacy toiletries. Breakfast OK.... more

We stayed at the Villa Medici this past July (finally catching up on all my reviews). We booked last minute; while in Rome, we realized a pool would be a nice amenity after a hot day of sightseeing. We were originally booked for a different hotel in Florence. I lucked out and got a great rate for the hotel on... more

This hotel was certainly not what it was advertised to be. The first room they placed us in was a dark dingy room with a broken plasma tv that they hooked with wires into a portable television. The concierge charged us double for booking museum tickets While at the buffet, someone took our table and was extremely rude when we... more

It is within walking distance from the shopping, 3 blocks from the river yet when you are inside you are no longer in the hectic city. Walking into the hotel you are now in a very relaxing atmosphere. It is the only hotel in Florence with a pool which sits in the garden. The restaurant is located in that area.... more

We have just returned from Italy and spent 2 nights at this wonderful hotel. Its position is great, 10 minutes walk from the old town. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff at this hotel. It was spotless, even though we never saw a cleaner. The pool attendant put out fresh towels for guests every day and the waiters... more

My boyfriend and I stayed in Grand Hotel Villa Medici on the last night of a 5 day trip to Florence. As others have commented, it was expensive (too expensive for us to stay more than one night) but the experience was worth it. The staff were very friendly and helpful during our stay. In particular, we were able to... more

At 670 EUROS per night one would not expect to find stained carpets, used Band-Aids on the floor upon arrival, a bathtub that filled with black water, dead plants in the flower boxes, raggedy upholstery, terrible cutlery and service equipment, etc., etc. We booked a "penthouse" room which in their adverts looked like it would have a "rooftop terrace jacuzzi"... more

Something is definitely not right here- don't you believe that there are over 100 more popular hotels in Florence - Grand Hotel Villa Medici should be up there in the top 10.This hotel made our holiday in Florence- beautiful, bright, airy and spotlessly clean. Gorgeous room with balcony looking out onto the Duomo - the memory of drawing back the... more
