Top-shelf Florentine hotel, very elegant bedrooms, amenities, front desk staff. We have stayed here twice now, both times delightful respites from the everyday. A beautiful lobby and bar area invite one in, either for cocktails or just to sit; the lovely breakfast is served in the bar area in the mornings.

My husband recently stayed at the Helvetia & Bristol Hotel on our very first trip to Italy. In fact it was our very first trip out of the U.S.A. Obviously it was a dream trip, especially for me, and we hoped that the hotels and tours we booked for the trip would make our dream a reality. The Helvetia &... More

Of all the hotels we stayed in Italy including St Regis in Rome and Hilton Sorrento Palace in Sorrento, this was the best as far as the hotel staff and the warmth that they displayed. The rooms were nice too and so was the breakfast. The location of the hotel is stellar, right in the midst of everything so all... More

During our road trip in Europe we visited Florence for 3 nights staying at Helvetia & Bristol Hotel. It is located in the heart of the center just a few steps from Piazza Della Repubblica. The lobby has a classy style with the large fireplace, the little fountain, wooden reception and 2 classic elevators. Parking is under request with extra... More

It is my fourth time in Florence and I wanted to stay in a place that makes me feel being there. That means character and elegance. Florence is art and beauty, charm and quality and all these ingredients dance together in a sweet melody. This hotel in the heart of the city is posh and human, international and local, historic... Stayed in an upgraded suite. Plenty of room in this suite with over looking views of nice quiet street. The other side is a busy street. We were there in mid July so it was very hot and the air conditioner was not able to keep up. They supplied us with a fan which helped, but I'm not able to... More

My wife and I stayed here two nights in July. This is an older hotel but is perfectly located for walking around Florence. All of the main attractions in Florence are within a 20 minute walk. The room was clean and comfortable. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The included buffet breakfast was very good. Only negative was that... More

Stayed at this hotel approximately one week ago on my mother daughter trip to Italy. Initially booked the hotel due to recommendation in Fodor's. The initial room which we booked for approx $350 euro a night was ok. It was on the first floor. Like other reviews the decor is a bit dated. The room also felt as if we... More

I have been more than three times in this lovely hotel, and the three times I have had the most beautiful room ever. It was huge, all in dark red upholstery, with antiques decorating different córners. The bed was embebed in the wall, with two closets on both sides. A lovely desk in a córner. The toiletries were all from... More

The hotel was centrally located in the luxury shopping district. The decor inside the room is a bit old. We were disappointed by the hotel facilities but very impressed with the staff. On the day of my check in, we were allocated a room with an annoying noise coming from a machine/engine located on the outside of the hotel. We... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
