Shortly before leaving for our holiday in Florence, I read some of the reviews, here. Naturally, I was concerned about the negative reviews, particularly as there had been a slight misunderstanding over credit card details. This was easily rectified, as was another worry we had about the possibility that we would arrive after 6pm, after which time Clara, the receptionist,... More

Very odd place to stay, poorly signed, we walked by several times. Turns out it's located on the second floor of a building! We get buzzed in and told there was an issue with my credit card so the room was canceled but hey you are here so u can still have the room, thank god!! I used the same... More

"Awaiting the Pleasure to Welcome You in Florence - Best Regards, Clara". It was a nightmare. We had made reservations in December 2013 with this lady to stay here on May 2, 2014. She even gave us a reservation number #151213-7719. She gave us her phone numbers too. Looked very professional indeed. On May 2 around 8pm we arrived in... More

I was shocked after our experience here that I checked the reviews when we got back after our holiday. One of the reviews mirrored our trip exactly! We turned up and were told that there had been a leak across the whole floor and we needed to be relocated (we saw no water on the floor we were meant to... More

First off, this house has a great location (but that isn't a relative benefit, because 80% of accommodations in Florence have great positioning considering Florence is small) But. The lack of management integrity is appalling - we were checked into a nice room on our first night, before getting chased out of it on the 2nd day because they said... More

Staff extremely rude, over priced, it says refurbished in 2010? The only thing that looked relatively new was the b-day in the bathroom. Window wouldn't lock at all, asked the receptionist and help came to no avail. Also explained the amount of mosquitoes in our room (bring repellant incase you stay in this monstrosity) on our last day, my partners... More

We had problems the minute we arrived. The daughter of the owner had difficulty communicating even when we used our Spanish which is very similar to Italian and had worked for us throughout the whole month we had been in Italy. English was even worse for her. We were given the wrong size accommodations but we accepted because that is... More

The location was excellent. It was close to the train station and close to a lot of major sites. The attendant was very helpful and friendly. The room was large and a little dated. It accomodated 3 people, which was hard to find. Biggest complaints were the bathroom which was fine except that the shower did not drain well and... More

This place was very convenient as it is was very close to everything.. The museums, restaurants, and the beautiful Cathedral. I love the location for the prices. However, it was indeed a bit old and the room were a little dis-functional at time. The bathroom was old and the shower always got over-floaded. The place was also a bit noise... More

Stayed here in May, 2012 - was very close to the train station, and so central to Duomo. Had a few problems checking in - had to call the lady to meet us for check in but her phone rang out for about half an hour. Other than that it was great - she apologised, came and met us, showed... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
