I booked this for one night about 45 days in advance. This was an interesting stay to say the least. A few days before arriving, I inquired to see if I could stay one additional night. The management quickly responded saying that they could add the extra night to my stay, it was signed from Hotel Toscana. We had to... More

Upon arrival, the door to Loccanda Rocco was locked. We went to another hostel, as instructed and called the number given when this door was also locked. The man working during the night, who answered our call, was extremely rude to us. He was unprofessional and gave the impression he didn't even work for the hotel (poor attitude, stated that... Enjoyed my stay here. I stayed in a 6 bed mixed gender room with my buddy. The room was clean; however no shower or toilet in the room. The staff was helpful and friendly, and the hostel had free WiFi. It is a close walk to The Duomo and city center. They have a restaurant attached to the hostel, which... More

We stayed at here for two nights in the middle of summer. We had a 4 bed dorm, which was simple and clean. We had only one tiny window to open to get some air moving through the room, but there was a fan. The only thing I really didn't like was the bathrooms. They wasn't any soap for washing... More

The service was fantastic! The staff helped us to book our wine tour, arrange pickup, etc. They even allowed me to print my boarding pass free of charge! 5 stars for service. The hostel had everything you need however there was definitely some room for improvement which is a shame as I would love to give this place 5 stars... More

The location is excellent, near the train station and in a nice area When we arrived our room was not ready although we were not early and we were asked to wait in a common room after a long trip The rooms are shared and yet there is only a very small lockable cupboard shared by everyone in the room... The location isn't clear marked, and once found, there's a sign that says to call a phone number or go across the street to another hotel to check-in. Upon check-in the staff was extremely rude from the get go and making snide remarks with his co-worker. The room although clean, it was facing the main street, therefore it was extremely... More

We booked the locanda Rocco hostel but when we arrived they gave us a room in pension ottoviagni in another street. There was no kitchen (the website of locanda Rocco said there was) and the showen was cold. The breakfast includes only toast and orange lemonade because the chef was on holiday. I'm never going back to there.

We stayed here for 5 nights and was nicest hostel we been at for a while! It feels more like apartments not a hostel. Small sized rooms with nice decor, good security. Cleanliness ok. We had no issues and for only 12 euro a night in the centre of Florence, you cannot go wrong!

Beware all the pictures you see from their website, they are a completely a lie. It is not as nice as it seems. We booked for 2 nights and they over charged us - talked with other travelers that also stayed at Locanda Rocco and the average rate is 10 Euros per night plus 2 Euros tax. You should not... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
