The location is ideal for us since we arrive via train from Rome, it's about 10-15 min walk from the train station. Most of the sights are walking distance, 5min walk to Duomo, 5 min to Academia. We paid €135 per night, the room is spacious and clean. It's a bit old and yes could use some re painting but... More

Hotel dei Macchiaioli was conveniently located in a beautiful former palace within walking distance to everything. After staying in a cheap hotel in Milan and a B&B in Venice, it felt so luxurious to come to Hotel dei Macchiaioli, with its marble staircase and high frescoed ceilings. Everything in our gorgeous room -- air conditioning, WiFi, etc. -- and modern... More

This hotel was terrific. Loved it! We were new to Florence, so didn't know the location and were so surprised to find how accessible it was to everything! The rooms were clean and bright, the bathroom was huge, the wifi was fast. But we were most impressed by the quality of the service. All the front desk staff were extremely... More

We arrived early and were able to leave our bags at the hotel. We appreciated being given cappuccinos at no charge. Paolo reserved tickets to the Accademia for us so we didn't have to wait in line. The location was perfect - literally, everything was down the street or around the corner. Our room was ready early and was so... More

Hotel was clean and had all of the necessities. Air conditioning and wifi worked well. Bed was only of average comfort. The room was fairly barren with just the necessary furniture, no decorations. The view from the window was an alley. The location was perfect - walking distance to just about all of the tourist sites in Florence and just... More

Inexpensive hotel in the heart of Florence. Nice rooms, quiet (Room 106) and an easy walk to Duomo and other sights in the city. Breakfast was traditional continental breakfast, but the dining room was clean and well maintained. If you park with the hotel (outsourced to a nearby garage) be advised it can take 20-30 min for them to bring... More

We stayed 2 nights in July, 2015. The front desk employees were top-notch. The room was plenty big. The breakfast was sumptuous. The very best part was the location. Within walking distance from everything in Florence, yet not noisy. Only complaint was that the air-conditioner was too cold blowing directly on the face with little control of it other than... This hotel has a great location very close to the centre of everything in Florence (5 minute walk from the Duomo). It is slightly hidden as it is through a small archway where there is also another hotel, but it is sign-posted on the outside. It is also up one floor and there is no lift (but once up the... More

First of all, the location can't be beat. It's a few hundred yards away from the everywhere you want to go in historic Florence. We walked with out luggage from the train station and there it was after a short stroll. The only downside to that is dragging your suitcase on the cobble stone streets. Not good. The hotel was... Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
