The hostel was one of the cheapest in the center of Florence. We still expected a little bit more from it. There is no elevator in the building and the hostel is in the third floor, if I remember correctly, so you have to be strong enough to carry your bags up many stairs. The staff is ok, quite friendly.... More

I stayed in a 5 person room. The room didn't have air conditioning, but the nights were cool enough that it wasn't necessary even in August (I'm from Southern Alabama so my definition of cool enough might be different than yours) . The wifi was fine, and the staff were OK. Their English was decent and the room was clean.... More

Great location. 2 blocks from termini . But no signage . So as soon as you turn to via faenza, mind the building numbers. Its a 5 storey building and there are like 6 mini hostels under the same roof. Paola is at the top most. Staff is very helpful and very pretty italian girl. Dont expect so much comfort... More

But definitely far from great. Hostels really only need two things to be good: a quiet, clean sleeping space and a clean bathroom. Hotel Paola had neither. Each morning, the bedroom (which had only a broken fan) smelled strongly of urine. The bathroom was disgusting at all times of day. The hotel staff, while friendly, do not provide even paper... I stayed here last week for one night as I went to florence for a shopping adventure . I chose the hotel due to it's convenience of being so close to the station . I booked the single room with shared bathroom which was fine . I had a sink in my room which I was happy about . It... More

Service and location were excellent. The room was very good for three people, but we were right next to the street, which was a bit noisy, but not too bad considering. Friendly staff, helpful and good tips to visit Florence. We didn't like the unnecessary noise by other hotel patrons late at night and their disregard for others. Because the... More

The location is perfect and that was one of the reasons why I booked this hostel. Reviews were also very good. We could check in earlier as our room was ready and we found the staff nice. Average, doing their job, but nice. You can't pay by card, we didn't know this before checking in. Even though the room was... More

Wonderful staff who helped to accomodate all your needs. Big rooms with full size lockers to fit all belongings. Excellent location, all attractions are within walking distance. Wifi is excellent, great connection. Very clean and tidy at all times! One of the best hostels I have stayed at in Europe! Highly recommend.

I loved to stay at hostel Paola! Number one reason was definitely the extremely fiendly and helpful staff. Aura is just an amazing receptionist! Another BIG PLUS is the PERFECT LOCATION! Just three minuts from the station and from the Duomo. even during the night it's a very nice place to hang around, or to go out for a walk.... More

The hotel was a mess. Stayed in 4-bed dormitory with no decoration at all. A ceiling fan that doesnt work. Swarm of mosquitoes will wake you up at night. Don't be surprised if youll wake up with patches of rashes. Secondly, the sheets and the smells terribly bad. I have been to different countries and cities in Italy, stayed in... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
