I loved my stay in this hotel, the location, decor and amenities are beautiful. The staff were exceptionally helpful and nothing was too much trouble - I was surprised though that there is no doorman which made the entry and exit into the hotel, with luggage very difficult - once inside the staff took over. Daily breakfast was lovely, the... More

An absolutely lovely hotel near the Santa Maria Novella and walking distance to the Duomo. Loved its old world charm. Marble bathrooms, dark wood walls and exotic time pieces all about. The staff was most helpful with dining suggestions and more. Buffet breakfast and turn down service included. Small gym, but enough to get the job done.

Well run, friendly staff. Big, old fashioned hotel (think lots of real thick brown wood). Great air con. Fab breakfast in a room with stunning views. The actual rooms are a bit on the small side and very dark - little lighting, easy to loose things. Ace rain shower & marble bathroom. There is a watch and clock theme throughout.... More

Room is very confortable and clean. Very good service, we arrived a bit earlier for check in (3h), but hotel offered to stay with luggage and after half our my room was ready with all luggage inside. Location is great, walk distant to train station and close to a good plaza with nice view.

I am currently at this hotel with 2 more nights to go. Hotel is less than a 5 minutes walk from the train station. One can walk to Duomo, Pz. De la Signiria, Accademia, in less than 10 minutes. The AC is perfect and with the temp here being 96 and higher, it is truly a blessing. Very nice decor... More

This hotel was very, very nice. The decor was very pretty and the place was immaculately clean. The staff was very helpful and our room was very big and decorated very nice. The bed was amazing. It' location is wonderful...a two minute walk to the train station and a 10 minute walk tops to the Duomo. It's surrounded by attractions... More

As others have commented, the hotel is perfectly located only moments from Piazza Santa Maria Novella, and short walking distance to all of Florence's major attractions. It is great base so see not only the best of this beautiful city, but you can easily get to the train/bus station within a few short minutes and venture out to other places... More

In the heart of the Santa Maria Novella Square, this location can't be beat! From the hotel, we could walk almost everywhere in the city (including the train station). Our room was elegant and romantic with big comfortable beds. The privacy from our bathroom was questionable ~ the window that faced the toilet was floor to ceiling and had no... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in July 2015. The hotel is centrally located and it is easy to explore Florence on foot using it as your base. The hotel is well appointed but our room was strangly laid out and finding your way in the hotel itself can be confusing. Breakfast was adequate. We asked the hotel... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
