Rosso 23 is a charm. It's an old palazzo with cozy rooms, modern furniture and comfy beds. Breakfast is complete. Staff is top, very helpful and polite. Location is a must if you come to Florence by train. It's within walking distance to pretty much everywhere. It's really a gem, I would go back again. Wifi is pretty good in... More

This hotel was a very nice surprise. First, the location is great on Santa Maria Novella square. Close to all the important sites of Florence. It is very clean and quiet, with a very helpful and kind staff at the reception and at the breakfast room where they are willing to get you whatever you ask for. When going to... More

We stayed here for the second time, having been two years ago. Seems to be amalgamated by the Garibaldi Hotel which added a little class and quirkiness to the surroundings. Had a nice room on the first floor with balcony onto courtyard. Plenty of amenities with fridge, safe, air con and very large bed. Bathroom bit cramped and shower on... More

VERY fairly priced hotel in the greatest location. Florence is an incredible place with great food and the hotel serves as a nice base to enjoy the city. The complimentary breakfast included with the stay was very basic. The staff were keen to please, spoke English very well and we're happy to help teach a few Italian words.

The location is great , just 10 minutes walking distance from the Duomo , 15 from the Ufizzi Gallery and Pallazo Vecchio , 5 min from the train station and city tour buses stop. Absolutely no disturbing noise from anywhere. I had a large room with great view on the church in the square (Santa Maria Novella) - just morning... More

The reception and waiting area is extremely glamorous, you'd think it was a 5* hotel upon first imoressioos, shame the rooms don't follow suit. Our room was like a cupboard, the double bed was small but comfortable and the shower/bathroom was tiny. Breakfast was included for us which was a nice standard continental breakfast. This hotel is in a fantastic... More

Rosso23 is now joined up with Garibaldi Blu hotel. It was a little hard to find the sign but I think the hotel may have only just changed entrance doors so a bigger sign may come later. Look for Garibaldi Blu. Ideal location, absolutely stunning hotel. The reception and lounge itself are amazing and that standard of design is continued... More

Our room was very nice, but on the back side of the hotel but it was nice and quiet. The hotel colors are bright red. Also maybe I was tired but the entry was kinda hidden so at first we went to the door next door and try getting in but it was locked up- finally found it. Reception staff... More

Hotel Rosso 23 is now joined with the Hotel Garabaldi, as they share a lobby. Took a little looking around to find it, but once we arrived, the staff were extremely polite and helpful. Marco and the whole team and the front desk made us feel very welcome and recommended two of the better places we ate on our whole... More

Great location, coming from the railway station. Beautiful court yard outside, one night we listened to a man playing the violin, so romantic. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was excellent. The room size was good, all except for the size of our shower. Don't drop the soap. Connecting to free Wifi was great.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
