The reception and waiting area is extremely glamorous, you'd think it was a 5* hotel upon first imoressioos, shame the rooms don't follow suit. Our room was like a cupboard, the double bed was small but comfortable and the shower/bathroom was tiny. Breakfast was included for us which was a nice standard continental breakfast. This hotel is in a fantastic... More

Rosso23 is now joined up with Garibaldi Blu hotel. It was a little hard to find the sign but I think the hotel may have only just changed entrance doors so a bigger sign may come later. Look for Garibaldi Blu. Ideal location, absolutely stunning hotel. The reception and lounge itself are amazing and that standard of design is continued... More

Our room was very nice, but on the back side of the hotel but it was nice and quiet. The hotel colors are bright red. Also maybe I was tired but the entry was kinda hidden so at first we went to the door next door and try getting in but it was locked up- finally found it. Reception staff... More

Hotel Rosso 23 is now joined with the Hotel Garabaldi, as they share a lobby. Took a little looking around to find it, but once we arrived, the staff were extremely polite and helpful. Marco and the whole team and the front desk made us feel very welcome and recommended two of the better places we ate on our whole... More

Great location, coming from the railway station. Beautiful court yard outside, one night we listened to a man playing the violin, so romantic. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was excellent. The room size was good, all except for the size of our shower. Don't drop the soap. Connecting to free Wifi was great.

The hotel was in a beautiful position to visit all attractions in Florence, however they are failing to tell people that they have joined with hotel Garibaldi blue and it is not as it appears in brochure. We went for a special occasion for four nights and instead of mainly grey and red warm looking it was actually concrete and... More

This hotel is in a great location. The interiors downstairs are lovely and modern. We were a large group staying for a wedding and had a hairdresser booked to come to the hotel the morning of the wedding. However the rooms were very small and so we asked could we have one of the empty meeting rooms for 2 hours.... More

Beautiful view on Santa Maria Novella, cute red interiors, kind treatment, nice people, elegant breakfast area, large and confortable rooms: over the top for a 3 stars and price was the lowest in city among the reasonable ones with good quality

First thing of note was that Hotel Rosso 23 doesn't exist anymore (which we did not know) and so it took some time finding it, via the Garibaldi Blu entrance which is now adjoined to the former Rosso 23. The two hotels together seemed eerie, empty vast spaces, dark high ceilings, rickety old elevator. The room was a disappointment. Very... More

Great hotel also known as the Ghia Blue hotel it is centrally located near the leather and meat market in the Santa Maria square less than 2.5 blocks from the rail, rooms were spacious, clean and well priced, breakfast was included and very good. I would recommend this hotel.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
