Visited over Christmas 2015 and was unsure which hotel I was in as Rosso 23 was accessed from another a couple of doors down with the two being joined together. Certainly not a problem though, but unsure where one ended and the other started. The location was excellent, a couple of hundred metres from the station, five minutes from the... More

We stayed here through our tour group booking. While it is in a very central location it is average at best. The staff was the least friendly and helpful of all the other hotels we stayed at. Our room was adequate, the bathroom was very small, and while my husband and i aren't huge people, we barely fit into the... More

Lovely hotel great area and very close to station only complaint would be the lack of light in the rooms very dull for reading when you are older otherwise fabulous rooms clean staff very helpful and courteous great selection at breakfast will definitely stay here again if I return to Florence

Lovely boutique hotel will beautiful décor and perfect location - right on Piazza Santa Maria Novella, which is tiny walk from station and small walk from Duomo. Breakfast served in nice little courtyard. Friendly staff.

Great hotel! Walking into the reception feels like a 5 star hotel! All staff including breakfast staff where very polite and friendly. Loads of choice for breakfast. Room was quite small but had everything you need. Great location, we where able to walk every where. Hotel has a few really nice restaurants right out front that we ate at both... More

Perfect location near to everywhere! Room was simple & spacious. Our room was facing 3rd floor facing the santa maria. Great view but tend to get noisy until midnight around 1pm when we tried to get some good sleep. Breakfast was great but tend to get a little messy! Reception was really helpful & friendly! With price like this, good... More

Spent 3 nights here - we had a beautiful large room with a view of the piazza. The staff very friendly & helpful, room was clean & well serviced. Free wifi definitely a bonus. Breakfast was lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The location was wonderful & restaurants just downstairs which we ate a few times, very nice & reasonable price. Will def... More

This hotel is in a great location. The rooms tend to be on the small side and a little dark but hey you really don't spend too much time in your room in Italy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, I forgot my travel adaptor and they first tried to find me one and when they couldn't they directed... More

Lovely location. Wonderful reception area with very helpful and attentive reception staff. However, that's about it. We were given a very small room, with a very poorly designed bathroom. The shower cubicle was so small that you couldn't turn around in it. And without being to graphic, the toilet was so close to the basin that us gents couldn't stand... More

We stayed at the Rosso 23, now part of the Garibaldi blu hotel, for three nights and it is very handily located for the main railway station. The reception and other public areas are stylishly appointed and the large lounge area is a haven of peace and tranquility from the outside. There was a big choice of items for breakfast... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
