It's not often that hotel bedrooms are nicer than the communal areas; but that is the case here. We had two rooms, one in the tower and both were beautiful, cool and prettily decorated. Downstairs, someone has gone slightly overboard with the gold paint and red plush. Lovely Etro shampoo etc, beautiful shiny clean bathrooms, service pleasant. The beds were... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in early August 2015 on our honeymoon and were welcomed warmly by reception and even given a tour around the hotel so we knew where everything was and finally shown up to our room. We stayed in a tower room which had a nice bedroom area with a handful of steps up the bathroom... More

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon, and we were delighted to be upgraded and got a great room with a jacuzzi and balcony, and came back to a lovely surprise of prosecco one evening as well. The room was perfect, comfortable bed, spacious, nice bathroom, and of course the jacuzzi. The view from the balcony was just of... More

The hotel is top notch! We took the train from Rome to Florence and the hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the train station. The train station is called Santa Maria Novella train station. The hotel is about 10 – 15 minute walk from all major sites in Florence (the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia that has the... More

I checked in around 5pm and was offered a room with twin beds even though I was a solo traveller. I was told this was an upgrade , though I had specifically requested a room in the tower. There was a noisy unpleasant exchange by the staff in furious italian. It was not a warm welcome. The decor is dated,... More

Dear SerenaahN, thank you for your review. It is very curios when people made mistakes in their reservations it is always hotel's fault. First of all, we would like to know what do you intend as five star...maybe you you are the one who want to use the staff as carpet?? The staff told me about your arrogance, shouting rudely... More

This place saved me from a nightmare air bnb experience but I was still a little disappointed with the condition of the hotel. We booked this place in the middle of the night; the staff was very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate us with same day booking. The hotel is in a great location. Everything... Dear Monica b, thank you for your review. To be honest with you, I have read it twice but...it is so generic, it doesn't help us so much. We are a boutique hotel of 27 rooms (small) (we are not a Resort), inside an historical medieval building, open in 2009 (dated). Anyway, hope to welcome back even if you decided... More

This is a fabulous hotel right in the centre of Florence. Rooms were beautiful and very clean. Staff were second to none, could not do enough for you. It is within walking distance to all attractions and shops and restaurants. If we return to Florence we will be staying here again. Thanks to the lovely staff for everything.

Apart from a rather less than warm welcome, things rapidly improved here to be one of the best value hotels I've stayed in. We had a room on the top floor which had its own mezzanine - and two bathrooms, for roughly A$300 a night. There is a happy hour each evening and the lovely Fabiola really looks after you... More

I thought this was an excellent hotel. We have started staying at the high level hotels in our old age and I would definitely say, from our experience our room was great. I am sorry but this review is from about 10 months ago! The only problem was the front desk was not very helpful at arranging side excursions. One... More

Dear ctolstad, thank you for you review and unfortunately after so long (10 months) it is difficult for us to find out who was on duty during your stay even if it sounds strange that we were not able to recommend. I am afraid he was a "stagiaire" (trainee), usually we receive them form the local Hotel School. Hope to... More

I stayed at the Golden Tower Hotel & Spa and could not have had a better experience. The location was excellent. It was located in the heart of Florence, a few minutes walk from the Duomo, but was on a side street so the hotel itself was away from the foot traffic and street noise. You could walk to anywhere... Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
