Marcella is very accommodating and super nice! Her English is not that great but it's enough to get by and she is so helpful. Upon our arrival she had a map of Florence for us to use and keep. My wife and I told Marcella we were going to travel to Siena for a day trip and she told us... More

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Italy. Our first stop was Florence, and we stayed at Casa Rabatti. All I can say is that we will come back to Casa Rabatti again and again and again when are visiting Florence. Marcella is incredibly kind and welcoming. We were her only guests at the time, and after... More

Among my group of 7 travelling friends, we agree that staying with Marcella was the best decision we have made. We came to Florence looking for some simple Italian sweetness, maybe in food, maybe in music. But the simple sweetness of Casa Rabatti and our hostess, bella Marcella, set the tone for the entire trip. To us, Marcella IS Florence,... More

What trip to Italy would be complete without a visit to Marcella? In fact, she is one of the main reasons we are so intent on going back there. I am convinced that we are her very most beloved visitors, and am shocked that others seem to have a different opinion. Oh well. What can be done? It is the... More

I 100% agree with all of the other positive reviews... great basic, inexpensive accommodations, easy walking from train station and to all Florence sites and interests. What makes this so special is Marcella, a woman with an incredibly large heart and ready smile! In Rome and venice, we stayed in very high end FANCY hotels (using points!, so free!) But... More

I believe Marcella the innkeeper has the unique gift of making every guest feel that he or she is the most treasured person she has ever encountered. That is what makes this place a terrific place to stay. When we first arrived mid-day we were appalled by the street noise - I felt I had discovered what it must sound... More

Our stay at Casa Rabatti was wonderful. We were able to walk from the train station (SMN) with luggage easily. Our room was clean although basic but itwas everything we needed for our visit to Florence. The hotelier, Marcella, is welcoming and so charming. Her hugs when we left made my day!

So how many places have you stayed where you are greeted warmly and hugged even warmer when you leave? By now, TA readers have gotten the idea what Casa Rabatti is like so I won't repeat that it's basic but very clean accommodations in a central area of Firenze. I am writing this to promote Marcella's lodgings and hopefully elevate... More

We were in Italy for 2 weeks and stayed in Florence the longest. We found this place from our Rick Steves book and owe him tremendously for the recommendation. Without him we would have never met Marcella. She is such a wonderful person and truly was our Florentine mama. I hope to go back one day and visit her again!... More

This place makes your Florence visit a unique and very comfortable experience - thanks to the lovely lady Marcella who runs this place. The rooms are clean and quiet with nice bathrooms attached. Will always come back - Grazie Mille Marcella!

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
