We only stayed here for one night but Edo (the host) was simply the best. My husband and I were staying in Venice and decided last minute to take a day trip down to Venice. Il Giglio was one of the few (and most reasonably priced) places available with only one room left. Since we didn't have a lot of... More

My husband and I recently visited Florence and stayed here for 2 nights. The B&B is in a good location with regular buses to the historical centre. What really made our experience and stay special, was the family who own the B&B. We arrived after a long day on our motorbike looking tired and disheveled! We were greeted by an... More

We spent 8 nights here in June/July 2014. This B&B reinforces the value of TripAdvisor, IMHO. The overwhelming positive reviews reflect a really rare find among B&Bs. Research: We'd never been to Florence, didn't want a downtown hotel (cost), and hoped to find a great spot to get "home" to at night but still be close to the city center.... More

Firenze was our favorite & most memorable part of our recent three week vacation through Italy. And our stay with Edo & his family at Il Gilio D'Oro was one of the reasons why. As others have noted, Edo takes time to help you feel comfortable & oriented & is willing to help with whatever you need. Not only is... More

This is a lovely place to stay in Florence! The location is great - there is a bus stop right out the front and it only takes about 5 minutes to get to the centre of town. We loved staying in a 'locals' area, away from the tourists! The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable, with air conditioning. We... More

We chose to stay at the Giglio d’Oro because of the wonderful reviews it received on TripAdvisor...both of us were intrigued by the off-the-charts high ratings, and all the glowing mentions of Edo. (Seriously, who gets hundreds of almost uniformly “excellent” reviews? I’ve never seen ratings like this before.) We stayed at the Giglio d’Oro for a week, and it... More

This is a lovely B&B for a short stay in Florence. It's very well located, only a quick bus ride to the historical centre but away from the swarms of tourists. Edo, our host, was so welcoming! He gave us some brilliant advice on nearby restaurants where the locals eat, wonderful Tuscan food incredibly well priced. Osteria Godo was a... More

As the other reviews suggest, Edo really takes the time to greet you, introduce himself, show you around, and generally make you feel welcome. This is the small but perfectly formed guest house for those seeking the personal touch. Edo and his lovely wife and daughter really made me and my wife feel welcome during our weekend visit to Florence... More

Edo and his family make you feel at home. The location is perfect, just out of the inner city. Edo even arranged a parking space... You get a bottle of Chianti and every bit of information you need: Where to get to the bus, where to buy tickets, breakfast, best gelateria, restaurants near and in the center etc. We had... More

We originally booked two nights at this guesthouse but once we arrived we knew that we would be staying for longer. There was a bottle of chianti waiting for us on arrival and the owner Edo gave us a tour of the area and pointed out all the main things we needed to know. Edo and his family made us... More
