The hotel is not located in the strict city center so you need to walk a bit to get there. It is however very close to the bus stop which takes you to the main bus station in Florence. The room did not look like the ones displayed in the pictures though so it was a bit disappointing. It was not that... More

Arrived by car and was warmly welcomed by Brian and given private garage! Spacious room and nice big bathroom, very clean and contemporary. Brian showed us how to get to all the major sights, just turn left out of the building and a ten minute walk to the Duomo, just a great location for our two day stay in beautiful... More

A nice and modern place for a short stay in Florence, just 15 min walk from the Dome . The staff is cool, relaxed and willing to provide an advice. Beware, it can get noisy in the morning if you stay in the side street facing room...

Although this is not meant to be one those fancy hotels, in my opinion everything was great. The staff was kind, the room has lots of space and it has a nice modern furniture, was very clean, and the breakfast had fresh and delicious food and the bed was very comfortable. The location and price were the best things. If... More

We loved the concept of offering reasonably affordable and adequate accommodation in unreasonably expensive Florence centre. The hotel is very small which is certainly an advantage. The staff is great. The internet connection is by far better than in most of much more vaunted hotels, major chains included. Some comments - tea/coffee facilities would be welcome as would bedside lamps.

This b&b is a good place. I liked it but my boyfriend less than me. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The shower was nice too. The breakfast was pretty good. The staff would prepare our coffees/ fresh orange juice which was nice. The savory foods were quite limited to bread with ham and cheese. There was also cereal,... More

Florence was our second stop of the trip so we started to feel our tired feet from walking and were hoping that the hotel would be closer to the city center. It is very close to Academia but about 10-15 minutes walk to San Marco and longer walk to Ponte Vecchio and left bank of course. It may not be... More

We were looking for a nice but not crazy expensive place to lay our heads for the night after a long day touring vineyards about 40 min. Out. This was the perfect place! We arrived late at night around 10 pm and they had emailed us all the instructions as there is no one working the desk this late. It... More

Just a 5 minute stroll from San Marco and the Academy, this is a great choice for a family weekend in Florence. It's really a smart modern B&B rather than a traditional hotel (no room service at night), and was a particularly relaxing place to stay. Our triple room was big, bright and very clean, with a lovely new bathroom... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
