We loved our three night stay here and would recommend it to anyone. Breakfast was a very nice European breakfast with prosciutto, cheese, croissants, rolls, cereal and yogurt. Assorted beverages and snacks including a Nespresso machine. A delicious way to start the day. The rooms were spotless and the bathroom, though a but small, was well appointed. The beds were... We chose this hotel because of it’s location and the reviews on this site. We always try to stay in the areas that are walking distance from most attractions, so obviously, a hotel at Piazza della Repubblica seemed like a great option. This was NOT a great option. The hotel has more of a youth hostel feel than a charming... More

We booked 4 of the 6 rooms on the recommendation of one of our party who had stayed there the previous year, and it turned out to be an excellent recommendation. The central location was excellent right next to a square with restaurants and opposite a rooftop terrace bar (on the top floor of a department store) where we spent... More

Great and comfortable B & B. Our hosts, Rocco and Chiara were wonderful. Lots of information and very friendly. Our room was so comfortable and overlooked the streets of Florence. So convenient to everything! We had a great stay.

Arriving in Florence, it was a little difficult to find our accommodation. Eventually after about 30 minutes of being on the wrong side of the Reppubblica Piaza, we found the BB - a word to the wise, if you go to the front side of the piazza, and face the back of the square, it will be the first door... This B&B is in an excellent location, and a really nice place to stay. It's right on Piazza della Repubblica, which is only 2 blocks from Il Duomo. The piazza has various entertainers passing through it each day/night so you don't have far to go if you want to get a nice local feel. We stayed in the room with... More

Spent a week in Florence at this hotel, located adjacent to Piazza della Repubblica. Could not have asked for a better location since we could walk to everything. We had room 3, which has a balcony overlooking the street which allowed for easy people watching in the early mornings and evenings. It can be noisy, but the shutter system on... More

Great location and very central to all sites, shops and restaurants. Room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The size of the room was tiny and at times claustrophobic. Same goes for the bathroom but it's only for a few days and apart from sleeping and washing you do not need to spend much time in your room.... More

Stayed for 3 nights and every single minute was completely enjoyable. Walking in the huge wooden doors off the square in to the stairwell is like stepping into a scene from a thousand different films, giving a feeling of entering your very own Palazzo. Then when you get up the stairs to the b&b you're greeted by the cheerful smiling... More

Just completed a 5 night stay here and on a scale of 1-10 would rate it at 7. Location: The location is perfect, convenient 5 minute walk to major landmarks in each direction. I personally couldn't have asked for a better location. Rooms: The rooms are clean, however a bit dated--especially the bathrooms. Bathroom was TINY, definitely only fitting 1... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
