Very nice clean hotel, literally opposite the train station Left bags in reception as was too early to check in, when returned our bags were in our room-happy days Lovely room, lovely shower-tea making facilities but no milk!!!! (Don't think Italians realise we like milk with our tea!l) Only criticism would be that you shouldn't advertise English Tv channels when... More

When we arrived this hotel was beautiful and literally across the road from the train station. We couldn't check in as we were early so left our bags on reception and went out for the day. Florence itself was stunning by far the most gorgeous city I have seen. After a long day of sightseeing and eating we returned to... More

Perfect if you get there by train. Hotel is placed just in front of it. Otherwise if you go there by car it's a nightmare. Free parking doesn't exist in Florence (and very money demanding!) and if you want to reach hotel by car it's to easy to fall in "limited traffic zone" ZTL thence you risk to pay an... More

It was a fantastic place to spend my year end with my friends. A ' walking friendly place' - everywhere is within walking distance i got to see the famous statue of David sitting on top of the hill overlooking florence town. For those who marvels medieval arts of carving, more of such statues can be found right at the... More

A large room, double glazed windows, walk to everything wonderful in Florence. A long walk to the breakfast room, but the breakfast offerings were plentiful. A very enjoyable stay. Very close to rail station.

Location is ideal as it is very near the Firenze SMN Station and the bus station. Also it is near lots of attractions. Front desk service was good. The room and the size is perfect. Free breakfast was provided, they had a variety of items, which was great.

My wife and I stayed here while in Florence for four days. The location is great as you are in close walking range to any attraction, and only a few minutes from the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge which connects you to the other side of Florence. The continental breakfast has great variety, and most items are delicious. They also have... More

My fiance and I stayed here in our visit to Florence and found the location and hotel to be very nice, but the service was a little disappointing and not as warm as most places we stayed. As for location, it was easy walking distance to many points of interest and was very convenient when we left as it right... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
