3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2015

This apartment is accessed by a small lift. The apartment is well situated for all that is on offer in lovely Florence. The noise can be a bit disturbing at night, the hospital isn't far away! The apartment is supplied with all you might need, the single second bedroom is much quieter but hasn't a curtain. There are supermarkets nearby... More

the apartment is on the 4th floor, lift only large enough for 2 people. Well equipped and clean, has everything you need including hair dryer, towels, iron & Wifi. Shops & markets very close by for purchasing anything you need. Within 5 mins walk from the Duomo and other interesting places to see. 10 min walk from Santa maria train... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

The rental was everything we expected - a clean and comfortable apartment in a great location (steps from the Duomo, San Maco and very easy to walk to the train station). Everything was exactly as promised, and then some. The apartment was very well equiped with laundry machine, dishes and all of the things that make a place feel like... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2012

For the past seven years with the exception of 2011, we have been visiting Florence every year. We have stayed in many apartments there, but this is the most comfortable and convenient apartment (Alfani House) we have ever stayed in (from March 25 to April 9, 2012). The apartment is very close to the Duomo, Academia. The owner, Adriana Artini,... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2009

We decided to get an apartment with kitchen facilities, and this was an excellent choice. Ideal location, 3 blocks from duomo, 2 blocks from Academia, but was also very quite. Great cross ventilation, lift, washing machine, comfortable mattresses, tastefully decorated with antiques, very clean, nice size. An excellent value!

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
