Location fantastic within walking distance to centre of Firenze and the Duomo. The views from the room and dining room exceptional. The rooms were basic and the landlord had not invested to maintain basic requirements. Bathroom simple and clean. Television old from the 1990's, antiquated....reminded us of student days sharing a room....without any real value for money. Breakfast was simple... More

Beautifully renovated rooms in a palazzo. Stunning views, very clean and well done out. Private garden an added bonus. Room was spacious with its own terrace. Lovely location only 5 minutes walk from Il Duomo. Breakfast a little disappointing but nothing wrong with it, good yoghurts! Friendly helpful staff. A little bit different and preferable to a hotel.

Clean, fresh and employees are very hospitable. Views are great! Breakfast included from 730 to 10.30Am. Quiet and surrounded by gardens. Don't think about going somewhere else, this place is worth the money. Reservations were done on b&b and had no issues with it.

Really could not have been a more fun and unique B&B experience, from entering through the courtyard to using your 5 keys to get through 5 different entryways. Beautiful building. Room had a fun automatic skylight and was spacious. The front desk staff helpfully booked a museum reservation for us for the next day, too. Breakfast was pretty average for... More

This is a B and B on top floor of a palace with stunning views over Florence. Only few minutes walk from duomo but felt like a million miles away, a real retreat from the hoards of tourists. Has it's own private gardens and our room had a terrace, a real sun trap. The only drawback was the rock hard... More

Reservation by phone(in Italian language) was difficult to make, as the woman couldn't tell us if they have something available, she didn't know room rates and offers that were mentioned on web page of the Residence. Fortunately Cristina by email gave us all the necessary information and we finally booked an apartment. Apartment was amazing, with skyline window and a... More

On the top floor of a old Renaissance palazzo the view is simply amazing. Very quiet place to stay in Florence. We had a very peacful stay in that place just a 5 minute walk to the center of the city. Breakfast is limited but... you are in Italy my friend. And in Italy we don't use to have breakfast... More

I chose this hotel for the great location and beautiful rooms. It is on a quiet street only a ten minute walk to the Duomo. There is a beautiful garden for guest access that is peaceful and stunning. The breakfast room overlooks the Duomo and city. Leny makes the best coffee! Leny is your host and she is lovely and... More

Stayed here for 4 nights - room was lovely with a great view of Duomo from the bed ! Very quiet / peaceful - excellent for light sleepers like me who still want to be easy walking distance to Duomo. Breakfast was a limited affair but did the job (ie toast / juice / coffee / cereal). Not really a... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
