My wife and I stayed in early Sept for 4 nights. Our contact with Lara was always quick and we reserved our room way in advance. Our room opened up onto the balcony for the magnificent mountain view and to have breakfast. The room was large enough and the shower was good and hot and the room was cleaned everyday.Also... More

El Grillo is about 20 minutes for a faster walker from the Santa Maria Novella Train Station. It is about 5 minutes by taxi and the ride cost around 10 euros. We loved to stay in a neighborhood that was not touristy. We learned so much about local people and the city, and ate in good restaurants at a very... More

Lorenzo & Lara emailed us right away and were very helpful in getting to their place. Lara was expecting their baby any minute so we didn't meet her, but Lorenzo took very good care of us every morning with a nice breakfast, getting on the right bus for our visit and the best places to see. There is a grocery... More

We firmly believe in staying in a neighborhood in any city we visit. We really learn how the people in a city live if we get out of the tourist area. El Grillo di Firenze is a lovely neighborhood B and B in Florence. It is close to two bus lines, neighborhood shops, and delicious restaurants mainly patronized by Florentines.... More

The room, the breakfast and the staff support was excellent. Lorenzo made a special take-away breakfast for our companions who left very early for the airport, while our meal was outstanding for a B&B. Lovely balcony view, bedrooms very clean and well supplied and Loenzo's tips worked out very well...definitely try The Templer restaurant! The B&B is centrally located...not too... More

I strongly recommend staying here. This is a very well-run B&B 15 minutes from the historic center. Clean, efficient, excellent breakfast, nicely situated in a residential/business section of everyday Florence. Beautiful sixth-floor balcony for airy room, breakfast, and for seeing what life is like for folks who live in Florence today. Lorenzo, the 30-ish proprietor, along with his assistant (as... More

We stayed here for our last night in Italy. We had a 7:30 flight in the morning- the B&B is near the airport. So, we didn't have a lot of time to appreciate all the advantages. However, for that one night, it was a great place to stay. A sense of a regular neighborhood, with no tourists. Lorenzo was very... More

A great visit to Florence If you're traveling by Train you can get the 22 and 57 opposite the train station on the other side if the road and get off at the Busoni stop, which is just a few meters across the road from the B & B. Met Lorenzo, who was very happy and informative, told us about... More

My husband and I stayed here for a couple nights. Very good location - easy to catch a bus into town. The host was extremely kind and helpful. He showed us a map of the city when we first arrived and helped us with the transit system. He also served us (amazing!) coffee every morning on the porch. We had... More

We stayed many places in our Italy trip and we would highly recommend this B&B! Lorenzo was wonderful, making sure we had plenty of caffe (made anyway you would like) and making sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Location: This B&B is easily accessible by bus, so you can get to anywhere in Florence fairly easily. The unit... More
