This hostel was close to the train station and the lady at the front was nice. It was a nice place to take a shower and sleep and continue our trip in the morning. A little coffee shop right down the street was a nice place to grab something to eat. Me and my friend would stay here again if... More

Generally, this place is quite good. It is very near to the train station. The room and beds are very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is also very good. You can cook whatever you want. There is also a TV in the room.

Ciao hostel is an excellent place to stay in florence. It is located at 10 minutes walking distance from railway station. The room was very big, clean, and comfortable, with a good working air condition. The city centre and food stuff is easily accessible.

I spent there four nights in a mixed room on ground floor. Although it was a mixed room, during my stay there was only one guy in the room. I arrived there a bit late at night (11 pm) because my train was late (a very common thing in Italy :P) which was a problem because the hostel reception works... More

This accommodation was what you might expect from a quiet hostel on the edge of town. It was close to the main train station which was very convenient and about a 25 minute walk to the Duomo. We walked everywhere during our stay but there was transportation that stopped close to the hostel if that is your preferred mode of... More

It was a nice place with a very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms, beds, and bathrooms were all great. My biggest issue was probably where this place is located. I didn't sleep well because of the constant car horns outside, but that might just be me. Cheap place too.

They provide everything you'd want from a hostel here. The rooms are spacious, clean and affordable. There are kitchens to cook. Great location. The staff even let us keep our bags there for a day when we weren't staying in the hostel. Would book here again.

Clean and comfortable hostel. 2 shared bathroom each floor and a kitchen as well. Kitchen was clean, so do the dining area. But it is quite some distance from city center, laundry and shop. Nothing much nearby not even a convenient store. Overall it was a good stay.

We loved this hostel. Granted it is a little out of the way, maybe an extra 10 minute walk but close to the train station, the facilities and friendly staff do make up for it. Air conditioned room, 2 bathrooms a floor, fully equipped kitchen and clean! Definitely would stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

A very decent, clean hostel. Perfect for a good night's sleep - I loved the high ceiling rooms with AC and comfortable beds. A bit of a walk from the center compared to other hostels, but no more than 15 minutes. There's not a lot to see or do in the direct vincinity of the hostel though, compared to the... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
