There was no one at the reception, and He didn't accept the coin for city tax.(Only accept paper even though i had exact coin for the tax) There are so many regulation in the hotel and also breakfast was so insufficient. I think 3stars is far above for this hotel.

A medical emergency during a day trip to Florence ended at the Hotel Il Duca. No place to stay, a traumatic event and fortunately I found Il Duca near the S. Maria Nuova hospital. They had an vacancy for one night that turned into a two week stay. During that time we were welcomed by the hotel staff...mama Lucia and... More

The hotel is nice, in a calm street with not so many tourists passing by. The hotel decoration is nice. The rooms are nice, the bed is comfortable. The breakfast is simple, with bread, croissants, one type of cheese and ham, 2 different kinds of juice, coffee, milk, tea. The personal is friendly and nice, even that English is not... More

We had been careful all holiday to check the check in/out times of hotels to ensure that upon arrival we could leave bags before heading out into the town. On the website they say 2pm and we arrived about 1.45 and were told that check in wasn't until 3pm. As we were early anyway we weren't put out and after... More

Not much to add to all negative review from earlier - had same experience. Room - ok, bed - was small (not really double), all room full of signs "Forbidden". Hotel stuff - old couple with no English, was not welcoming... They looked very tired and made us feel bad that they need to work because of us. Breakfast -... More

We enjoyed our stay here and had no issues with the room or service. The hotel is well situated. Just outside the major hub and close enough to walk. We loved our stay in Florence and the Hotel was a good choice for us. There is a laundromat around the corner so very convenient.

We stayed there for 3 nights, air con worked nicely, bathroom ras ok. Bed small but comfortable. Room was very nice. Personel was helpful (helped with air conditioning). Breakfast served as a buffet was yummy, cakes baked daily, coffee and nice juice. What do you want more. For sure we will return to this city. Location of the hotel is... More

My parents stayed there and it was horrible!!! Rooms are fine but service is awful! As long as there's no problem - it's a nice place for a VERY SHORT STAY. The HELL begins with a problem. God forbid if something is BROKEN in your room - door lock (?!?!?!) or air conditioning(!!). The staff immediately gets defensive and angry,... More

Hotel Il Duca, thank you for the nice two day in Florence. Perfectly located hotel close to all attractions and to the train station. The owner was friendly and although he didn't speak english, there was no problem to understand our questions with the slight help of a dictionary! The room - perfectly cleaned, sheets snow white, air conditioning working... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
