Hotel Italia is about 10 meters from the main piazza in Cortona and walking distance to everything else in town. It was difficult to reach by car, mainly because Cortona's streets are tiny and steep. Cortona itself is absolutely worth the visit! We opted to stay in Cortona and not Camucia, which I highly recommend. The hotel was nice. It... more

I recently stayed in Cortona for over two weeks while I studied Italian and Hotel Italia was my "home." It couldnt' have been better. Angela, Lorenzo, Patrizia, and Rosanna made my stay delightful! They were friendly, helpful, and warm . Patrizia and Rosanna make breakfast welcoming, and the view in the breakfast room is worth geting up for! The entire... more

We stayed at the Hotel Italia. After a steep walk up to the hotel, we found its location to be unparalled. Although the room we received was a little shoddy, our desire for an upgrade to a better room (in what appeared to be offseason) was met. Fortunate to receive the room featured in the pictures on Expedia, there were... more

This hotel is simple but comfortable, its in a great location, right in the centre of Cortona, very close to all the sights and restaurants. It has a breakfast room with an amazing view over the rooftops across the Val di Chiana. The room (and the hotel) was pleasantly done out in a simple Tuscan style, cotto floors, chestnut doors... more

My husband and I stayed here first a few years ago and for several other times in between. I wrote an expansive note here about how beautifiul the breakfast room is. Now, upon our return visit this week, I find that the hotel has made major improvements and all the bathrooms have been updated. Although the bathrooms aren't all large,... more

We booked 4 nights at Hotel Italia for our honeymoon after family members had raved about Cortona. The location is great, just off of Piazza Republicca (about a 30 second walk). Our room was nice, with high ceilings and a huge bathroom (almost the same size as the room itself). We had large windows that opened up onto Via Ghibellina.... more

The hotel is a few steps away from the Piazza della Repubblica where life in Cortona happens. The room was modest, but with a great shower and the linens were replaced every day. And the view... more

While Cortona is a beautiful little medieval town you wouldn't know it if you relied on the staff. And not for lack of asking, which I did, it's just they didn't know the answers to anything. I wanted to rent a scooter to go to Lagoa Trasimeno, a large lake on the border of Tuscany and Umbria. I asked the... more
