First, the positives.. good location (50m from the town square, up a slope), nice lobby and enthusiastic pleasant staff. The negatives.. nonworking lights (no one in reception after 10pm), broken shower head, poor mobile reception in lower rooms. Not every room will get a view, so the only chance is the rooftop view over breakfast.

We visited Cortona in February 2015 and had a lovely time staying in the Hotel Italia. We looked out at the beautiful Tuscan countryside from our junior suite window. The room was unique with exposed beams and a lovely modern bathroom. The staff was extremely helpful before we arrived by having a taxi meet us at the Camucia-Cortona train station,... More

The hotel is well situated in the center of the village. This gives good access to the nearby restaurants and bars. If you are lucky enough to get a room with a view, you will have a fantastic view of Tuscan roof tops and the most spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside. The hotel does not have a great atmosphere... More

We hadn't planned on staying in Cortona, but a massive rain storm hit with torrential downpours, flooding the streets. Luckily we were able to get a gorgeous room at Hotel Italia, when morning came we were in awe of our view, simply stunning. We hope to visit again!

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Italia for 2 nights. Although it was difficult to find at first (our fault), it ended up being in the absolute perfect location for the trip. The staff is young, helpful, and quite proficient in English. The hotel lobby was gorgeous and our room was so beautiful and unique with the wooden ceiling,... More

Cortona is the epitome of the quaint, hilltop Italian town - all small cobblestone alleyways and a great view of the valley below. The staff were great, especially the two women who ran the front desk. We arrived very late the first night, but they waited for us. We completely forgot to make arrangements to get to a winery, Felsina... More

Stayed here whilst cycling from Lancashire to Sicily in June 2014. Loved this place! Located in a side street just off one of the Squares in Cortona it is a tastefully modernised hotel in one of the old original buildings. Very friendly and helpful owner, terrific room with a huge en suite and breakfast at the top of the hotel... More

We stayed at the Hotel Italia in Cortona from 9/29/14 - 10/1/2014. What a pleasant surprise after the hectic time in Rome and a cruise. The Hotel is within the walls of the town and just a few steps from the main piazza and in walking distance of everything in Cortona. This is a great option if you don't plan... More

Very very basic rooms for the price paid. I upgraded to a room with a view....not worth paying the extra. You can't see out of the window unless you are standing at it.....and the window is like .8m x .8m......and given the room is average you will only sleep in it, not hang around. Breakfast is basic but Ok and... More

We booked the first two nights of our honeymoon after marrying in Cortona Town Hall and left after the first night with the hotel refusing to refund the second night. We had reserved Cortona suites but a double booking meant we were offered to move here. A steep downward step in every regard. The room was very basic for the... More
