B&B Vicolo della Scala is a comfortable family run location in the historic center of Cortona ideal for holiday and business trips accommodations. The breakfast is definitely the strong point of the estate, it is supervised by the owners who provides attention to detail with a delightful range of sweet and salty taste. The rooms of B&B Vicolo della Scala are distributed between the second and third floor; in the first floor there is the kitchen, the place where will be served the typical healthy italian breakfast. The rooms are distinguished by flowers names and are are provided by private bathroom, linen service, TV Sat and pleasant common area for study, relax and waste time. 1st Floor: B&B and living room. 2nd Floor: common living room with sofa and double bedroom I Girasoli with private bathroom. 3rd Floor: 2 double bedroom with private bathroom Le Stagioni and I Fiori.
Vicolo della Scala’s B&B was perfect! The style is beautiful and it’s very comfortable, especially the beds! Pasquale and Antonella were fabulous and couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. They made sure we knew how to navigate ourselves around the city and recommended their favourite sites and restaurants. The best thing was the awesome rooftop view, quite romantic! We’d love to come back soon!

We have stayed at B&B Vicolo della Scala twice - once five years ago, and again last month. You won't find a better B&B in Cortona; the rooms are clean, cute and comfortable, and the hosts are incredibly friendly, and accommodating. Unlike in some B&B's, the breakfast cakes and crostate are made fresh daily by the owner, Antonella. During our first stay, my husband took a one-to-one cooking lesson from Antonella; not only was it great fun, but the results of the multi-course Tuscan meal were delectable! Staying at this B&B was the highlight of our trip, and we'll definitely be back!

This B&B is in a building was from the 1500's, I believe, and very nicely restored. It is run by Antonella. Pasquale, their son and daughter. Very well maintained with a good homemade breakfast. Their assistance with touring and dining recommendations was very valuable. When we asked for directions for getting to the train station (the bus was not running on Sunday) Pasquale was able to offer a ride to our next destination!! Vicolo della Scalla is easily accessible with a short walk if you take the bus to Piazza Garibaldi, except Sundays. We highly recommend this B&B and the hosts, even with the stairs. Say hello for the visitors from San Francisco.

My husband and I stayed here last week, and absolutely loved it! Our room was beautiful, with an awesome view. And, Antonella and Pasquele were the perfect hosts. We also had a cooking class with Antonella, which was wonderful. She is so warm and friendly, and her recipes are amazingly delicious. Actually it was the best meal we had the whole trip! I highly recommend this B&B to anyone.

First the good: The location is great, right in the center of Cortona and excellent walking distance to all the sites we wanted to see. Our room was quite lovely, with a comfortable, romantic four-poster bed. We thought the price was very reasonable for what is offered. What we didn't like so much: The B&B seems to be run more as a business, rather than as the typical B&B of a host opening up their home to travelers. The family does not live there, so the property is left to just the guests in the evenings. I've never encountered this at a B&B before and I wondered what would happen if a guest has a problem, or needs help or assistance of any kind. I guess I just prefer knowing that there is someone around. Breakfast was a disappointment for us. Antonella is a beautiful baker, but there was a lack of ambience during breakfast due to the loud television playing in the breakfast room, plus there was a lack of any conversation with our hostess. Antonella sat in the corner of the breakfast room, busy on her smartphone. My husband has conversational-level Italian abilities, so it was not due to lack of being able to communicate. We tried to engage her in conversation and she would answer our questions very nicely, but soon returned to her smartphone, so we felt like we must be interrupting her. She was so engaged in her phone that she never offered us a second cup of coffee, which we were sorely hoping to have but didn't want to have to ask for it. Lastly, we were given poor instructions on catching a shuttle/bus back down to the bottom of the hill, leaving us standing around with our luggage for over an hour waiting for a bus that wouldn't arrive (due to it being a Sunday), until some gentleman took pity on us and helped us out. Even though the bedroom itself was lovely, we would look for different lodgings on a second visit to Cortona.…

We stayed here for two nights in December. What a charming little B&B! Inside, the building has been restored beautifully. We had a top-floor room with a gorgeous window letting in the sunlight. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The WiFi works very well. Antonella bakes goodies for breakfast and also provides cold cuts, cheese, cereal and toast, and of course amazing coffee. Great location to walk on the main street and to the Piazza Garibaldi where we had a few picnic lunches, overlooking the incredible valley below. Highly recommend staying here! Be prepared for a lot of stairs in Cortona. We parked in the free parking lot below the city. From there, you walk up to the Piazza Garibaldi by stairs and two escalators and onto the main street. Your first right will be Vicolo della Scala and it's stairs up to the B&B. The building is also three floors and we were on the top floor. For us, stairs are not a problem, part of the fun of Tuscan hill towns!…

We spent four wonderful days in this lovely B&B. It is located in a beautiful old house in the centre of Cortona. The rooms are decorated with taste - vintage pieces of furniture, ancient drawings, fresh flowers... Soft linen and towels, high-quality toiletries. It is a very nice family who runs the B&B. They are incredibly welcoming and warm. The breakfast is a treat - the lady bakes her own bread and cookies. Everything makes you feel like you are spending time in a family home rather than a hotel. Why go to a traditional hotel when such special places exist?

Our stay in Vicola della Scala was like visiting your best Italian friend in her home. From the moment we walked in the door, Antonella made us feel part of the family. Her coffee each morning was amazing and her fresh baked treats were devoured. Cortona is beautiful and Antonella and Pasquale gave us so many insider tips to make our stay even more enjoyable. I can't wait to go back. Don't miss visiting the Celle of San Francesco nearby as well.

Great location just off the main drag in Cortona, perfect for exploring this amazing hilltop town. Close enough to the parking as long as the escalators are working. Antonella and Pasquale offer a great service and are always just around the corner if you need anything. Breakfast was great and just enough. The rooms are of a size to expect in such a congested medieval type town, but they are clean and comfortable and the upper rooms offer a great view across the terracotta rooftops.
