The EXCELSIOR is charm itself. The give-a-way is the copy of 'WHO'S WHO 1914' in the hotel library. Faded elegance but contemporary comfort! Get a room at the back, with a balcony and sea-view. You'll get a full night's sleep, with soft pillows to boot! There's plenty of storage space and a new bathroom it seems. The free wi-fi signal... More

Just back from holiday, week in Taormina (4th - 11th) and then week in Sorrento. The Excelsior is a lovely old building in a superb location. The staff are brilliant, Antea at reception is a star. We chose B&B as we know there are great restaurants in town, however breakfast was great, good food and excellent quality. We ate in... More

We stayed 4 nights and wished we could have stayed a lot longer. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful and speak very good English. The main walkway is right outside the hotel so you don't have to worry about transportation. They have a beautiful pool on the grounds with plenty of lounge chairs but it's a bit of... More

Great location for the town and its shops and restaurants. The gardens are extensive (very welcome when the weather is hot but a lot of steps involved). The views from the hotel and gardens are quite stunning although from our room spoilt a little by the modern car park structure below us. Room was quite spacious but the décor wasn't... More

This is our 5th stay at the hotel and we love it. The views from the rooms are amazing the hotel has the best spot in town as its on the edge overlooking the sea and etna. The staff are friendly. My favourite spot is the pool area which gives you amazing views of the sea it's in a very... More

I was a little worried after reading some of the bad reviews about this hotel but I'm so glad I ignored them. This a grand classic hotel built in 1904 and they are trying as hard as they can to maintain its character and elegance. Our room was better than expected. We didn't upgrade just paid for a triple standard... More

A hotel of Times gone by! Very friendly staff, fantastic food. Very few rooms have balconies. Not really suitable for disabled as lots of steps to get down to the pool. Mind you the actual location of Taormina makes it difficult for disabled people. Fabulous views as on a cliff top. Parking below hotel (not free) and then a lift... More

What can I say about Excelsior Palace Hotel Taormina apart from we have now stayed 3 times in 3 years. We absolutely love this hotel. It is old but very charming. The reception staff are brilliant and extremely helpful. We have such a laugh with them. Everyone who works at Excelsior Palace are so friendly. We prefer the back of... More

This is an old hotel, originally opened in 1904. The room we had was on the second floor overlooking the bay and Mount Etna. There was a small balcony with a couple of seats. The room was large and well maintained. The bathroom was fine, although a slightly odd choice of dark brown tiles it has to be said, but... More
