The views are spectacular but the rooms are very old fashioned and in deep need of an update . The bathroom was plain awful. The tearoom was very stylish in contrast and had an unbelievable panorama view onto the sea and mount Etna . The location is perfect, but I wouldn't stay again.

The Excelsior Palace is Taormina's Grand Budapest Hotel! Very high ceilings, austere rooms with nice balconies and great view. Beautiful suites of alcoves that remind you of Caffè Florian in Venice, a glass veranda with a breath-taking view on the Etna and on the bay. This is not a Rock-and-Roll hotel, no; but if you look for attentive service, nice... More

Best location in Taormina. Friendly staff. Rooms need already renovation. IF you're looking for a quiet stay, it's your choise. Breakfast buffet was satisfactory, but Dinner a dissapointment. Free Wi-Fi in lobby.

Stayed here from the 31st October to the 4th November. The hotel must be in the best position possible in Taormina with stunning views of the Etna, Mediterranean and Taormina. The staff very helpful and friendly. We were even given an room upgrade free of charge. The breakfast was continental and excellent. The room was perfect with a balcony over... More

Stayed here from 2-7th November. Hotel is in an excellent position with a great view of Mount Etna The exterior is very impressive but the interior is redolent of faded grandeur,in keeping with the Edwardian era in which it was built. The bathroom is modern and well equipped with nice toiletries and towels were changed frequently as was the bed... More

The view from the hotel and the surrounding area are beautiful. The front desk staff are very helpful and professional; they were able to recommend restaurants and provided directions. With that being said, the food was terrible and the kitchen/dining room staff were very rude and not accommodating at all. I was visiting from the U.S. and they treated my... More

This hotel is more than 100 years old. It has more personality than a Marriott, and less electrical outlets. The corridors may smell a bit like cigarette smoke, but the windows open and then you get the fresh Sicilian air and you can see the Etna and the sea. Not what you get in a Marriott. I like the old... More

Very good location with great views, only bettered by the town' s 5 star top hotel next to the Greek theatre. Our French balcony room was adequate, bathroom good, but lacked a clothes drawer cabinet, so we had to live out of our suitcase for 4 nights. Other people in our group who did not pay extra, a fair bit... More

Very small rooms, there was a weird smell at night and the air conditioning leaked so the plaster fell off the ceiling. The pool was lovely though and it is incredibly central, if you get a larger room this is probably quite nice. Food was good, had a kind of old fashioned charm

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week, arriving back yesterday. We were here for our wedding anniversary. The best thing about this hotel, which makes it excellent is it's location. You could not find a more perfect location, at the top of Corsa Umberto, next to Porto Catania. To add to this, it has the most... More
