We have just returned from a fabulous week in Taormina! The San Domenico is a wonderful hotel, perfectly situated in the town centre with easy access to shops, restaurants, the cable car and the bus station! I wouldn't recommend the area if you are not fit or have trouble walking as there are so many steps! We stayed in room 265 in... More

Couldn't be nicer. Food and drinks over priced but overall beautiful hotel, very clean, lovely setting, lovely staff and perfectly placed for exploring taormina. I would definitely come here again next time I come to taormina

San Domenico Palace Hotel has lovely old world charm. The hotel is rich in history and culture, offering quiet solitude to holiday-seekers. The views of the sea and Etna are absolutely amazing. My husband and I visited the hotel in July and experienced absolutely impeccable service: at check-in we were provided with a small tour of the hotel and the... More

I once read a story about a man who was condemned to spend the rest of his life in a hotel - or was it a film plot? I can't remember. The point is this: If my fate was such, there are few places I'd rather live out the rest of my days than the San Domenico! From the dining... More

Our room was overlooking a dirty yard and not the sea or city view that was booked, very poor Air-conditioning, television was not working, after many calls to reception a handy man turned up and managed to get four channels tuned in, and the bathroom in desperate need of updating. Overall very disappointing.

We had a week stay here at the end of June, the hotel building and grounds are outstanding and the quality of the service of the staff are definitely 5Star. However some of the facilities take the off edge of the experience, particularly the Wi-Fi coverage and charge rates. We stayed in the old Monastery, on the second floor, where... More

The hotel grounds are spectacular and the location is a 5-10 minute walk to the main street where all the restaurants and shopping is. The hotel is accessibke to the beach by taking either a cable car (10 minute walk away) or using the shuttle service offered by the hotel. The bfast at the hotel is very good and you... More

The only thing that deserves a 5 star in that hotel is the buildings. If it wasn't in an old convent I can assure you it wouldn't have the 5 stars it has. The rooms are average and very dark. The service was bad - they never cleaned the rooms only did the beds thinking we wouldn't notice. They only... More

This is a fine hotel and deserves to be rated as one of the best hotels in Italy. Hospitality shines through - the staff are excellent. However, the hotel needs to upgrade its air-conditioning system: Sicily can get very hot (35 degrees +) and other hotels in the area manage to operate better systems.

Very nice room which was very clean and kept spotless during our stay. We had booked half board and paid 60GBP extra each, however the quality of the food did not match the price tag. If we ever returned we would eat outside of the hotel as there are many restaurants close by. The breakfast however was very good and... More
