This is a belated review of the San Dominico Hotel where we stayed for one week 15-22 June 2014. The hotel is situated in Taormina, a lovely town in a very scenic setting half way up Monte Tauro. The hotel is basically an ancient Dominican monastery where many of the rooms are monks cells converted to 5* hotel use. There... More

I recently stayed at the Domenico Palace Hotel in Taormina. It is very conveniently located, just steps away from the main shopping street and square. The single room that I stayed in had a lovely view but I had to unplug the TV so I could charge my phone, camera and kindle. There was only one other receptacle in the... More

A great location in the centre but a calm oasis of quality and luxury, we had a junior suite which we enjoyed, a beautifully comfortable oversized bed, a well equipped bathroom with a small terrace with 2 sun beds. The alfresco breakfast is up there as good as anywhere with lovely sea views. The central courtyard bar is also excellent... More

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. The rooms are very old fashioned and are not a 5 star hotel standard specially for a leading hotel of the world member. Our welcome at the reception was very rude and we felt never well treated. Some things need to be done better. The internet connection is very poor, the fitness center... More

We only spent 3 nights in this amazing hotel but we enjoyed every minute of it. We received a warm welcome from Massimo in reception who showed us to our suite which had two bathrooms and overlooked a beautifully planted courtyard. Breakfast in the Bougainvillea restaurant was delightful. The choice of food was amazing and they even had Antonio, the... More

I am no longer a fan of huge, old historical hotels, nowadays I look for something smaller, well taken care of, with all the modern facilities you come to expect when you spend quite a bit of money on a room. Having said that, my room was very nice, the bathroom however left quite a bit to be desired, Tiles... More

The room we had was a double deluxe room with a balcony overlooking the bay in the'new' part of the hotel. It was very quiet and had not disturbances. Bed extremely comfortable. Room service twice daily, beds changed daily if wanted. All staff extremely helpful. Breakfast was very good - omelettes of all kinds on request. The waitress, Lucia went... More

We are two friends who spent a week in San Domenico Palace Hotel and we enjoyed every minute of it. The old monastery turned hotel still has the old World charme that is so rare these days. The rooms are not very big but lovely. We had booked a room with sea view and we had the most wonderful view... More

Before booking this hotel I read some negative reviews on the size of the rooms, location of the swimming pool or quality of the carpet...what can I say? I think some people can't see Beauty even when it's right in front of them. This Hotel is STUNNING: it's an ancient monastery of extraordinary beauty, located in the centre of Taormina.... More

Beautiful and grand spaces hotel but ours was a very small room, internal phone didnt work. Hard to get a lounge at the pool. Pool was really not up to standard for a 5 star hotel. Given wrong directions (and driven to wrong location for Hire car pickup (ie wrong town!) meaning we had to wait for 30 mins as... More
